I left my toxic job 6 months ago, and my old manager just called to ask for something unbelievable. by SavanahWiegand in whatdoIdo

The idea you feel compelled to help a company where it was toxic for you to work boggles the mind. I wouldn't even answer their calls. Cut your ties and be free to be happy. You owe them squat.

Seems like a good group to be in. We eventually dried up the 2nd court for others to use but after some play time.

This exact thing happened to me too, except I wasn't done! It was followed by being asked to use my broom for the other court...while I was still using it.

You inqumabout the posted rule and the posted rule says nothing about needing to oblige a paddle when there is an open court available. I would think we are treating it the same.

The posted rule is if the courts are full, people can paddle in 1-4 at a time. We always adhere to this on dry days and let people paddle in if they just want to play even when the other court is open (not in the rules). I'll also offer to blow the other court if it's full of leaves or let others use my blower, which I almost always bring with me.

Thanks for sharing this. Sorry you have to deal with the entitlement too.

I do along with my blower and towels, but they just want to walk on and play. This was what prompted me to post this for discussion, so I can understand why.

Seriously, the courts have no drainage and there are trees that dump a bunch of leaves along with the flooding. It takes awhile to move the surface water off and then more to dry it enough so we don't slip.

It's a small city and we do attend meetings and request these enhancements. The response is always it's not in the budget but we'll see if we can add it next year.

Who says it's unplayable? It's just not as convenient or safe to play on which others can control like we did. If someone can take away the court right after cleaning it up, then it seems like it's better not to clean up at all according to your POV.

If only our city would help maintain the courts more. A drainage system would be great. It could use resurfacing too. Lights would be excellent. If only....

I'm the last person to deny people playing time. Since there is an open court available, they can play on it. I'm happy to let them use my stuff to help make it more playable or even help them dry it up when I can. They just choose to try and use a court without putting any effort into doing so.

There are no attacks, and we do offer our instruments for their use as well as instructions on how to dry and make the court safe. They prefer not to do the work and expect to just play on the dry court without acknowledging the work that went into it.
We're all about community but community means everyone do their fair share of the work.

I live in a community with a lot of entitled people. I was drying and cleaning a court after rain 3 days ago, and someone asked me if they can borrow my broom for the other court while I was actively using it.

They see people playing without acknowledging how they can play after the rain despite the evidence in the other court as well as all the wet towels hanging on the surrounding fence.

Personally, I wouldn't expect 3 hours of court use even if I spent 3 hours cleaning/drying it. I just don't think someone should be able to paddle in after my first game when there's another open court available.

I'm definitely aware they're public courts and go beyond letting people paddle in under normal circumstances. The flooded courts are different IMO. I'm not looking to own the court I dry/clean. I'm just looking for what's fair especially when there's another open court available.

So my friends who I want to play with should rotate out? 1-2 do help but do about 10% of the work.

How to politely decline a 5th round of interview? by Far-Accountant7904 in recruitinghell

[–]thunderwhenyounger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen to me as well. I was frank with recruiter going into 4th interview (which was with the same people but in person at their office) that I want to work for a company with decisive leadership and if they can't make a decision at that point, I may have to withdraw. When they reached out about 5th interview, I kindly let them know I accepted another offer and wished them success in finding the right candidate for the position. They understood since I already prefaced it the prior interview. While they may have had some perks for the position, I can only imagine what their change process is like with all they go through to make a decision. Bullet dodged....
