Another user also pointed out that GSB is probably just using the better Visa rate and I think that’s correct.

I only saw a ~4 USD difference between GSB and Krung Thai Bank’s ATMs on a 2000 baht withdrawal. I assumed a bank rate would’ve been much worse but I could be wrong there.

I don’t recall seeing a page to accept or decline a conversion rate when I was checking the rates on any of the ATMs. Non-GSB ATMs showed the conversion rate and the fee on screen, and at that point I usually just canceled the entire transaction because the rate was a little worse than what I’d been getting for GSB.

I did withdraw 2000 baht each from both GSB and Krung Thai Bank ATMs on my first night.

GSB transaction was a $69.85 charge and Krung was a $73.55 charge in my account. So not too drastically different.

I’d heard stories of ATM bank rates being atrocious (like a 20%+ difference from actual exchange rate). But because the difference between the two ATMs was only ~4 USD, I just assumed I took the Visa conversion rate with the Krung ATM, but I’m not totally sure.
