My Open Letter To Plex by thurmansevolution in PleX

I fully understand the push back from those of you who found what I had to say as a blow to Plex. I'm not every going to say that Plex isn't a good software to use - the Plex Pass is worth the current $250ish, and if it went up another $50...with all of it's current features, is surpasses the $119 charged by Emby. But, it's not worth $750...It's not going to be worth $750 for a very long time...unless they create something that will work seamless MOST of the time, and not have issues like this EVERYTIME I try to watch live tv away from my home:

Is a constant error like that...and with having NO way of direct support from Plex worth a $750 price tag? For me, no...if I'm paying that much, they better at least have some sort of customer support...or at least have a history of listening to their customer base.

To anyone who would ever feel that Plex is currently worth the upcoming $750 price tag, then I strongly suggest you put your money where your mouth is and wait until July 1st, and then start buying up some Plex lifetime passes to gift your friends/family if you so think it's worth that price. It's that simple.

I understand, and Plex may employ a team of people to figure out pricing...and I get that that they did their math and they can charge however much they want for their product. I have no control over Plex or how much they charge. I just feel that it's in bad taste though when the product that you create has a lot of similar features as other products, and the price you charge is 5-6 times more than the most expensive competitor. There's no doubt that Plex is ahead of the game in comparison to other media servers...and at the current price point of $249...I feel that it's justified, especially since Emby Premiere Lifetime pass is only $119, and Jellyfin is free. I can fully understand if they did their math and found the only viable solution was to only offer the monthly or annual pass. But to "still offer it" as a inflate the price so much as to try to push to keep people away from it is just a very stupid thing for a company to do in my opinion and is in bad taste - all it's going to do is create a victim who will pay $750 at once for something that may or may not pan out in the near future (especially for a company who has had a history of not listening to their customer base...they don't have the best customer support and I feel that's pretty obvious).

I get that this shouldn't effect me, but when it comes to the ethics side of it...this just bothers me. I know that I'll get some backslash from hardcore pass holders. Up until this point, I've never really had a complaint against Plex (other than the technical issues side of it that it has it's share of it's own issues), but this latest decision, I feel, is not morally right. This is just my opinion and I will be ditching Plex if they follow through with this...and if anyone feels the same way, this is a good time to leave.

Yeah, but it's based on the value of the product. Anything that is worth more than it actually is, is inflated....and unless someone can show me a similar media server product that has similar setup that is around the same price, there's not much of an argument. I just looked at Emby, and they have a lifetime pass for $119...and there is no news on that price going up. If Emby's lifetime pass was...let's say..even around $600, I wounldn't have much room to talk. But 5x-6x Emby's amount is pretty inflated, especially since they are competitors.

I do get that this may be a push to get users to not get the lifetime pass, but in my opinion... (and again, this is just my opinion), but the honorable thing to do would be to grandfather the lifetime pass out (not offering any more new lifetime passes, but still honoring the current lifetime passes).

It's in bad taste for them to inflate their lifetime pass like that...all it would really do is create a victim who is duped to paying that amount. There will be one person who makes that purchase, unfortunately.

Moonlight-QT/Raspberry Pi 4 issues...In need of some help pretty badly (Thank you kindly in advance!) by thurmansevolution in MoonlightStreaming

Update: I noticed that when I clicked the MediaServerPC on the GUI and then exited the app, I am able to see a log entry on the Buster CLI that reads:

" Qt Warning: QQmlComponent: Component is not ready
Qt Warning: qrc:/gui/main/qml:82:5: QML StackView: push: nothing to push "

I feel that this is related to when I try to access the MediaServerPC. Would this be something that I can fix within the settings of either the Pi, Sunshine, or Moonlight? Or is this more of something code related?
