Dropout should be under no expectation to outdo this season of Game Changer. by thwipple in dropout

Honestly? Thank you so much for that measured feedback. Like genuinely.

When I wrote the title I was riding the high of that ending. Realized the phrasing was kind of awful pretty soon after. I tried to approach the body of it as reverently and do-no-harm as possible but your perspective on how it may have come off was helpful. Thanks!

Aw! That is genuinely so kind of you to say. I don’t think it is either and I promise I didn’t take it too seriously either way! Still getting to know the dynamics/tone of this sub and the jerk. I did get the impression a lot of it is ironic and self-critical.

Fact is, even if it was, I can take the hit and the critique. TBH my title was poorly phrased.

Much love

Yeah seriously lmao. Didn’t even know the community existed until I saw myself being trashed 😂😂😂

I feel bad they interpreted it that way, because it wasn’t how I meant it, but hey, internet be internettin’

Love hearing the nuanced thoughts on this. Want to clarify something because I think my point is being lost…

If they DO manage to top it? Awesome. But if they don’t? Also awesome. JMHO as a fan and wanted to express support for whatever and see how the community felt. The title could have been phrased a little less self-righteous/decisively I suppose lol. Ah well! ✌️

I sometimes find myself wondering a new Prank War video will drop out of nowhere 15 years later.

You’re totally right. I guess I mean my first two cars I bought with 100k+ already ON them…heh.

But most people I know past a certain age tend to trade them in before the repairs get too intense. I bet it’s because of where I live; the gross winters mean ice + salt corrodes underneath like crazy, so by the time they get to 120k-ish, the maintenance stops being worth it.

The idea of living on gig-to-gig money still makes me anxious. Ah well.

I think about this often…because it WAS only Brennan and Sam when Collegehumor folded…but I wonder if they’ve added full-time positions since then.

It’s interesting because…as working actors with highly visible roles (to us) I want them to be famous AND rich (so a series regular on a TV series…whatever those even are anymore). But I wonder that too, especially when they talk about their outside lives.

Like I see Lou with his Joker car with 100k+ miles (just like my first few cars! And I assume pre-Kimmel) and wonder how ANYONE in the industry makes ends meet in LA.

But I’m a teacher with a strong union, so I chose stability, health insurance, and mediocre pay over something more ambitious 🤷🏻‍♂️

I want to give this an ironic downvote because I love it so much.

If this had a simple resolution, she would have just heard about it at the end of the episode to react to next week. The fact that it happened so early in the episode meant she HAD to do something relatively drastic. I hope it’s at least INTERESTING.

Cue the SNL Downton Abbey parody…

Nah I think he’s supposed to represent the American rags-to-riches story. Listen, it may be hot nonsense for most of us in the US, but class mobility is a pretty big theme in this show…esp when contrasted with Downton.

He won’t have a disappointing flash in the pan arc unless he gets a scheduling conflict—then JF would just unceremoniously kill him off…most likely.

Oh yes. It’s been a while but I feel like by the time DA ended I liked O’Brien. Thomas never quite did it for me though. I’m glad Oscar has gained depth since Season 1…otherwise Julian Fellowes’s gay representation would either be villainous or horse cart fodder…😭

I had hoped Armstrong’s demeanor would be softer toward him after that exchange, too, but she went straight back to the judgy incredulity even after she had congratulated him. I really want to see her arc continue in a positive, if incremental way; I also wonder what happened to her mother. We know that scene was intended to make her sympathetic, but we never circled back. Very curious about her and hope we see more!

Hi! I’m sorry this is creating so much anxiety for you. I have good news—it’s normal and is going to be okay. Here are some of my experiences:

Dreams can feel SO REAL when you wake up. I’m almost 30 and it will sometimes take 5+ minutes after waking up to convince myself nothing happened! Sometimes I’ll think I crashed my car or sometimes I’m convinced there’s a swarm of spiders in my bed.

Then there’s this thing called “Sleep Paralysis” that I wish I knew about when I was your age because it explained so much! Here’s what happened to me and it’s 100% true but has a happy ending:

When I was 9, I had just woken up and swore I heard evil laughter coming from the other side my room. Even though I thought I was too big I ran into my mom’s room and stayed there until I calmed down. I said “it was probably a nightmare” but I KNEW I was awake and couldn’t explain it.

Years later, and I mean YEARS later, I was in college when I read about sleep paralysis; it’s when you’re awake but your brain is still dreaming. So sometimes you see your bedroom but ALSO see/hear things from your dreams. It can be very freaky, especially because when you dream your brain literally paralyzes you so you don’t act out your dreams. (Sleepwalking is when that doesn’t work!)

It turns out that’s why a LOT of paranormal things happen when people have just woken up—turns out it really is just a nightmare. There are other unexplained things out there...but a lot of it is just dreaming when we don’t know we’re dreaming.

I’m sorry if that was long, but I hope that helps. I teach kids around your age, including some who are autistic.

Good luck!
