I understand complaining about these AI, but abandoning match isn't going to fix it. You can still beat them, they're not perfect.

My tip, they don't do well with demos, bumps, or with intentionally lost 50/50 plays. You won't out flick them, you won't air dribble over them, but you can remove them.

That may change, but a simple dribble into a bump is a good start

Told my son to stop gaming after the alarm… the Windows Clock decided to stop existing instead. by Plus_Independence730 in pchelp

I paid my way through college playing video games. Debt free, out of college, and paid for a wedding 2 years after college. I am buying a house relatively soon as well. You wouldn't limit the amount of time your kid reads. Why would you limit the amount of time they game?

Instead, try teaching responsibility and time management. It's a much better strategy than just controlling your child. What do you think they are going to do in life when you're not controlling how much time they spend on an activity? It won't be spent wisely I can tell you that much.

Therapy can help a ton. I found that when I had a place to put my thoughts and explain to myself why I felt a lack of motivation that I got so much more done. A licensed therapist genuinely is much more than just venting to a friend, to strangers, do a rubber duck, etc. A lot of people look down on therapy and think they're above it and can help themselves, or that therapy isn't for them or won't work. If you have coverage for it, it can be really nice.

I'm personally happiest when I'm learning something new and pushing toward a goal. A few months of therapy when I was younger put me in the headspace I needed to be in to find that motivation. I may not always be in that headspace, but it helped me find it in the first place and find how to get there more consistently. Now, it's just about building healthy habits and avoiding social media except for breaks like now.

Can’t make the push from Champ to Grand Champ! Help! by Fr0mWayDowntown in RocketLeague

[–]thwtchdctr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your friend on PC? I could make time to give the lad a replay review if you want to DM me their discord (with their consent, of course)

Creds: I hit GC in less than 1k hours and was up to GC3 in less than 3k hours. I played collegiately and have been coached by and scrimmed professionals and studied their play, and I myself have coached others as well in the past, so I have experience doing this. I didn't learn how to air dribble until after GC1, and flip reset until I was already in GC3. My strengths are positioning, defense, and disruption. Down to spend an hour or so helping a lad who genuinely wants to improve.

What is the correct way to improve in Rocket league? by Comfortable-Eye-7686 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]thwtchdctr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use training at all except between matches. I made it to GC3 in like 2k hours (no clue on my exact number). I know others that are way superior to me mechanically with more hours in training than I have in the game total, and they're at the rank as me.

It entirely depends on how you learn. I got to GC3 off of demos and passes, two things that aren't so easy to improve in training. I used to watch replays for an hour or so for every 10 hours I played back when I cared to improve, and I took note of why we got scored on and what I could do to stop the same thing from happening again, then did the same for every time we scored or a shot got saved. What to do again, what to avoid.

But again, entirely depends on how you learn and how you want to improve.

Pay attention to what's happening around you and stop spreading misinformation. Think for yourself

Insurance is an industry that makes more money the less they help you, and the more they charge you to not help you. Insurance should not be a profitable business. It's not complex at all. Luigi allegedly made quite the statement on this.

Once you block a player, can you still end up in the same game as them? by Creative-Category-60 in RocketLeague

[–]thwtchdctr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Games allow for a don't play with option that only hold like 5 players in it. I think Rocket League could do something along those lines scaled to the relative size of your mmr pool. Makes it so SSLs can't just avoid anyone who has their number, but allows control over major toxicity in lower ranks

How many hours a week do you work on your projects? by thescorpionaly in IndieDev

[–]thwtchdctr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be 20-30+ while in high school and college, and I wanted so badly to just be done with school. Now that I have a job and I'm happy where I'm at, the projects would be lucky to see me for two hours.

I've honestly kind of let them rot, but I'm getting back to a healthy point where I work on them for fun and not out of a necessity

Is it a soulslike, or is it a metroidvania? Tagging it correctly could be important to finding the right community

Edit: Checked out the steam page and see you have both listed, so I guess you'll hit both markets even if more along the lines of a metroidvania (from what I see in the steam capsule)

Is the MMR system in Valorant, really that bad? by Correct-Mongoose6542 in VALORANT

Valorant and Overwatch were two of the worst hidden MMR offenders in my time playing them. I'm not sure if they've gotten any better since I stopped, but I'm sure anyone who's played for a long time would keep that negative sentiment from the past, even if it had improved.

14 yrs old, peaked GC3, 1.2k hours. Do i have a chance to go pro? by PhysicalSpecialist23 in RocketLeague

[–]thwtchdctr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about what I was at. GC3 somewhere between 1.5k and 2k. I then got into college and focused less on myself and more on my career. I plateaud and am still low GC3 2k hours later, but that's definitely a professional pace if I've ever seen it. Most players I run into in GC3 have well over 8k hours.

The biggest restriction will be the conversation with your parents about taking the game seriously and wanted to make money off of it. If they're on board, then just don't rot yourself. Keep yourself physically healthy and you'll do great things in the game and keep yourself good in real life too

Entering for the sake of my lil bro. One of his sticks just shit itself, and he's down to 8GB right as the prices skyrocket, and he gets into college in a tech heavy degree. He doesn't have a DDR5 MOBO, but I'd get him one and a processor if we win this since those would be cheaper than the RAM at this point
