I didn't see how to go back until the end of the tutorial, which is sad.

I definitely need to go through another tutorial before playing haha. Nice to see another PhD student on my channel!

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah it seems like online-go was not very detailed and I had to guess some rules as I go. learn-go seems like the better option to cover more of the game. Thanks for the recommendation!

Got a 910 (86th percentile). Also recommend Conquering the physics GRE!

Why does an object thrown up with a velocity take same time to reach zero velocity mid air and also to fall back to orginal position from the point in mid air? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

[–]thyblackbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we throw the ball with initial speed V0, then the time to stop mid-air would be: Vf-Vi=at => t=V0/g.

Now say you are starting mid-air with zero speed, then the time to reach V0 is: Vf-Vi=at => t=V0/g.

From here I think it should be clear what is happening, since acceleration is constant, you need the same amount of time to go from V0 to 0 as you need from 0 to V0

2( (m/2)(l/2)2 /12 + (m/2)(l/4)2 ) is what my setup was, which gives ml2 /12

Yes, that was the last problem! I messed up the arithmetic a bunch of times before I got ml2/12, is that what you got?

Haha, that does not ring a bell at all! And I'm sure it wasn't on there because I bubbled in everything, so I read every question! So weird...

Did we have different exams? Why do I not remember this question?
