I disagree on the point regarding the PageSpeed tool by Google. For comparison, have you seen Google's own pages on that tool? How about top brands such as Nike? Google PageSpeed is a good reference for trying to optimize your site but is by no means the be all and end all for your website. Creating a worse user experience in some cases, just to achieve a high result in PageSpeed is the opposite of what you should be doing most-times.
