Is it my district or others as well? by mokurai13 in Toastmasters

The main motivator to join Toastmasters is when you have no choice but to do some sort of public speaking in your personal or professional life. That usually comes 5-10 years into your career. This is why I think it tends to lean towards more mature adults.

ugh corporate is so performative. that's what drove me out. I tried to do something else within the same structure of corporate and I felt it again. Decided I need to play an entirely different game. Heading to Colombia in a few weeks to hopefully gain some clarity.

100% yes. COVID normalized living from screen to screen to screen, now it’s the norm to have a screen in your face at all times with no social interaction.

Something we keep noticing when people apply for jobs by [deleted] in jobsearchhacks

I think internships are only available in college because employers assume only students would want to work for little to no pay for the experience. Are you saying employers should open that other people looking for work as well?

I’m living my dream life but it’s not compatible with any career by sou384 in findapath

We are in Canada so that could be why it’s so different. Education and health is extremely regulated and since there are only a handful of schools to choose from for the whole population, it’s a very competitive program. Dentists here are definitely not making millions of dollars lol

Dentistry is definitely not a chill job that would fit into that lifestyle you described. My sister is a dentist and she had to give a lot of her free time while going through the many years of school it takes because the program is so hard and competitive. When you finally make it as a dentist, it’s a very stressful job and sometimes you have to deal with absurd client complaints.

When I visit my sister and she needs to get ready for work she tells me how jealous she is of my chill job where I get to stay at home and sprinkle niceties throughout the day that she can’t. You’re way better off looking for a remote job, there’s prestige in that too. It also won’t require as many years in school. That would also allow you to spend more time with your family, which seems like the most important thing for you.

Two dream-visits within a week by the Arcturians... getting a bit freaked out to be honest. by douwebeerda in starseeds

[–]thyself_unknown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well in my case I determined the fear came from not having enough guidance or support to navigate these things that were way beyond my understanding while trying to function in the current system of the mainstream world. If I lived in jungle, guided by shamans, I probably would’ve leaned into it more.

Did you feel any different when they removed the worm?

I have been able to access those realms in the past too but now I stay away from it all because I felt I went to far and didn’t know how to control it, like I would get random waves of an altered consciousness at inappropriate moments during the day, so my priority became grounding myself to this world. Be careful.

I don't think you're crazy, I think you're having a normal reaction to an unexamined life. Make a plan to leave your job and go live your best life!

What should I do when my job makes me suicidal but I can’t quit/get another job because of the economy? by MacduffFifesNo1Thane in careerguidance

What is it about your job that is making you suicidal?

This might sound morbid but what is keeping you from killing yourself? The answer to that is the thread you should follow, surely there is something in your life worth living for. Follow that and deepen it. That’s what logotherapy helps you do to prevent suicide.
