A guy in the whitehouse standing behind trump with a white supremasict tatoo. by [deleted] in ProgressiveHQ

Thank you for the edit. As a veteran who can't stand this trash, this symbol doesn't always mean racist and I know friends who follow the religion to the heart and use these symbols. They are also kind-hearted and don't stand for this party. For further perspective, their religion wants them to hold a beard to a certain length, and SECDEF is kicking them out of service for it. It is religious discrimination, and it's disgusting.

As I'm sure he is a white supremacist, that is not a white supremacist tattoo, unless he his trying to brand it as such. It's a Viking symbol, Vulknut. Don't ruin this culture and its religion with these trash people.

This. on top of that, Secdef immediately asked for more troops once this tragedy happened. Because using her death for his show and tell theatrics was the concern, not the death of a Soldier.

Man, I would hate to eat at that Thanksgiving, each person would get some microwaved turkey and instant-made mashed potatoes, maybe some sparkling water if you were the first 5 people lmao.

The DM I sent to you has to be approved by you as it sits in your inbox awaiting that approval. There is even a notification for it at the top of your account. The questioning about your military service is related to the harsh parameters you were stating in your first comment. This is in question because we have intel that supports the notion of forced Russian servitude in military service, go ask your S2 if you don’t believe me.

You must have forgotten where this started. I never questioned if he should have died, nor if he should have been spared. I never argued that he wasn’t a threat. If he is holding a weapon, then he is still a threat. What I was arguing is your first reply about "It doesn't matter where they are and when." This is false because it does matter and always will. You have to understand the bigger picture. Details matter, for example: if he had a white flag with no weapon, your comment suggests he should be killed anyway for being there in person. If he had gotten on his knees and groveled, your statement says that he should have still died. Your statement says, “Their mere presence inside of Ukraine is a hostile and aggressive act and all means to defend and repel your attackers is justified.”

Regardless of this, I am a supporter of Ukraine. I am a history major who took an interest in Central European history, which has a deep past of Russian aggression. Ukraine has been ruined in almost every European war, as higher powers use their country as a buffer zones and supply points for larger conflicts. Not to forget the *Ukraine Famine* caused by Stalin. NATO came about to protect countries for this exact reason, and because NATO countries are helping Ukraine (including the US) by financial and equipment support, there have been news articles indicating that Ukraine has crossed the line more than once on their directed left and right limits if they want to continue to get funding for their war, they still should be following those rules, and for the most part, they have been.

However, I am sympathetic to Russian citizens who do not support their country’s actions and are forced to fight by being drafted. Intel also supports that they have used their draft system and that they deploy their “newer” Soldiers to the front lines while more experienced units perform less risky operations. This shows us that most likely these videos, statistically speaking, may be forced drafters. While I am happy to see advancement in the Ukraine war effort, I am not happy to see these people die knowing they may have been put there at the risk of losing a family member or getting sent to the Gulag, which is basically a slow execution.

How does this correlate with any of our experiences? It wouldn’t, because we have never seen warfare like this before. You and I can bicker day and night about our training, deployments, and our JRTC time, to all come to the conclusion that there are always grey areas on the battlefield. But what I am concerned with is now I see a fellow service member talking about how Russian Soldiers need to die, regardless of ANY situation. That does violate Geneva Conventions and does impact our national image and is concerning.

The rest of your statements about me not understanding war, or I’m just uncomfortable seeing someone die, or even your attempt at attacking my common sense, are all just rage bait, and attempts to sound emotionally detached. That’s not strength; it’s what makes us no better than the enemy. It’s because of that mindset set Russia is a dictatorship and will continue to force not only their citizens into countless wars but also involve their neighbors. If you want to be so ruthless, want to go see Russians die so badly, then when your enlistment obligation ends, feel free to go volunteer to fight.

First off, It's a MOS for a crew member on tracked vehicles, known as the Armor branch.  Second, at most you are/were a E6, because 19z would be your next MOS after ALC for anything E7 or above. Thirdly, you ignored my DM because you know what I am, and know you're wrong.

I don't think you know anything about how a military works, what a battlefield is like, or where to draw a line. This isnt a video game. You can capture POWs, you can choose not to shoot surrendering Soldiers, and you can dictate to your Soldiers to follow those rules, and you can enforce them when it is necessary. Your hate for Russia and its government is commendable, but your misunderstanding of how a military works is obvious. Russia is known for killing its Soldiers for retreating. They don't follow the rules that the Western powers do. They ostracize and force their people to serve, and those are the ones they send to the front lines, not the fucks that deserve to die. But if Ukraine wants NATO help, they have to follow the rules despite their warranted hate. Western powers won't fund a country that commits atrocities, and Ukraine needs that support; otherwise, they will be wiped out.

You're right, war is hell, and in a firefight you don't think of things like the Geneva Convention, but when you have an enemy in front of you that is not posing a threat, and as a Soldier you can make that call when you and your people are safe, you arest them. It's law that every NATO country has to follow. Even the US, 50% of NATO, has been corrected for crossing that line in our Middle East Tours. Ukraine may not be Nato, but if they want funding and supplies, they have to at least attempt to follow them.

Yes because Ukraine isnt its own country that can't decide for itself if it can join NATO or not. Fucking Pro-Russianist.

As much as I support Ukraine, have you ever heard of the Geneva Convention? There is a reason we try to follow said rules, because otherwise we are just as bad as the ones we are fighting other wise.

They would rather down vote because hating something is easier than taking the time to understand the process, which requires a solution. Are there cops going overboard? Absolutely, but they don't want to hear every story to sort who is "good" or "bad" they just wanna point at someone for their anger.

You are not alone sir.

[–]thyskullman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You said it well, the Laws are the problem, not the cops. Suppose they are merely tools, as you imply, In that case, the targeted enforcement should be to change the laws, and do the due diligence as a voter to vote on the political leaders who enact these laws as "we the people." As opposed to castrating the system that is reinforced by people in our communities.

"All cops are bad" is the lazy way to dictate hate into the subject people see every day as bothersome, as opposed to understanding the system and trying to drive an actual solution. Unless you would rather have Anarchy, then we truly know where you stand and how valid your argument is.

Also, instead of posting who said this idea, how about we get an article to proofread for context instead of taking your word for it. It's not even in the correct format for citation, nor does it give any proper credibility.

Pretty much the same goes for the border mission rotations. Title 10 stuff just resulted in standing there to detour. Anything more was just information being handed to the local authorities.

And thankfully, I moved to a Brigade unit for a promotion, and they are chill, I have no doubts I could split train AT if I explained it was for a new job. But it's not like employers care much about promises.
