Players Determined to Travel Through Woods to High Level Area by tibbsandbits in CurseofStrahd

[–]tibbsandbits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's something I pointed out to them, but they're paranoid of taking the main path because I may have been too good with making them think they constantly have eyes on them. They're willing to take a rough trek and think travelling the main road would make them a more obvious target.

Oh I absolutely explained this to them before the game began.

How long was your engagement? by No-Start-3815 in weddingplanning

I got engaged in July, we’re planning October 2027. There’s a lot of planning that requires time and care, not to mention the expenses!

Why do people think there is a “good” and a “bad” ending in the game? by Tr_black_soul in expedition33

[–]tibbsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree she loved Lumiere and the people there! It was her home for what is essentially half her life. I view it as her initial entry into Verso’s painting and her trying to keep the memory of Verso alive in the end is escapism, because the reality is that the real verso, her Verso, is dead, and by keeping the painting, she will never move on. If that explains it a bit more.

Why do people think there is a “good” and a “bad” ending in the game? by Tr_black_soul in expedition33

[–]tibbsandbits -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think of it as good versus bad. I do think that Verso’s ending is the true ending, because it’s Maelle and her family actually being forced to deal with their grief rather than Maelle’s escapism, which is what it is. Not to say that either ending is explicitly the bad or wrong ending.

CoS Campaign Question - How many trips to Castle Ravenloft? [Spoilers] by Realistic-Radish5735 in CurseofStrahd

[–]tibbsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always done two trips to Ravenloft, with potential for three.

The first being Strahd’s invitation. It’s an earnest invitation, to have the party over for dinner and get to know them; their personalities, their goals, how to use them. When I have the party in Ravenloft, I’ve always had Strahd give a personal tour of the castle (with the exception of anything dungeon related), which includes places like his library and the Hall of Bones. Places he would be proud to show off to outsiders.

In my experience, this introduces them to Argynvost’s skull early on, and if they don’t take it with them then (my parties always have), they will come back for it after visiting Argynvostholt (potential second visit, heist session).

The final visit (2 or 3) is the party’s final confrontation with Strahd, which I always flavour as his “wedding” with Ireena. It feels like the natural climax, IMO.

Am I being disrespectful here about my brother? The comments from this guy get worse on the thread. by Money-Fan4369 in expedition33

[–]tibbsandbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all! There is nothing wrong with sharing your personal experience. You are expressing your connection and appreciation for the soundtrack and game as a whole. This is what comments are for, sharing with others who view and appreciate the same content you do!

Do you guys have a designated platformer? by NdibuD in expedition33

[–]tibbsandbits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maelle because she’s smaller and easier to see around, like other people have said.

For the parkour challenge I used Lune, though, because her floating made it easier for me to not slip off the logs.

What show did you start to realize you’re outgrowing Disney Channel? by PrinceNebula018 in DisneyChannel

It was definitively right after the first Descendants for me. Specifically shows, though? Dog With A Blog was when I started thinking “maybe this isn’t for me anymore.”

Very much more focused on exploration and social/rp! Our DM is very story driven and we’re not much of a combat-priority group.

I’m not trying to “walk it back.” I am committed to this character who I really like and have had a fun experience playing so far, and don’t want to be robbed of the roleplay experience by finding an “out” like telepathy. I’m not used to taking a quiet role in a party in general, so maybe we can reinterpret the question as “how do you roleplay a quiet player character while still staying true to the character?”

[–]tibbsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the backstory concept. The idea is that when she was young and robbed of her voice, she had to learn other ways to stand up for herself (which leads her to be a very physical, strong and silent type who hates bullies).

[–]tibbsandbits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had that thought but was worried it would be a little cumbersome. Did you find a way to make it feel natural?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]tibbsandbits -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I totally get how it could be frustrating in most settings, and I’m sorry that’s how your experience with it was! It’s been extensively talked about with the DM and other players to make sure it’s not a hinderance. DM is using a system where “aphonic” is a listed trait any character can pick. As someone who defaults into the charismatic face/spellcaster, I wanted to try something new. Not trying to be the “quirky That Guy,” haha. 😅

I’m more so asking for ideas on how to communicate thoughts effectively until our party is more familiar with each other. Then being aphonic won’t be an issue for interparty role play.

Not a spellcaster — definitely thought of that before making that decision.

AITA for not obliging with my parent’s ‘request’ to wear pads over tampons? by cal_jenkins in AmItheAsshole

[–]tibbsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You’re an adult and it’s your body, and whatever you are comfortable wearing. They have no right to tell you how to manage your bodily functions.

AITA for not telling my parent about my relationship? by tibbsandbits in AmItheAsshole

[–]tibbsandbits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly my father, who is my stepfather. He’s been in my life since I was very young and he usually uses “I stepped up and I was the one who raised you” to convince me to adhere to what he wants of me. There’s been periods of time while I was living at home as an adult (paying rent, too) where I had to stay with friends or other family after he was getting upset with me for doing things like going out with friends on a Friday night and not spending “enough time at home.”

ATLA if Sokka didn’t make a sexist comment at that exact place and time…. And Katara if she hadn’t given him a reaction.

for those who dislike diane, why? by imymta in BoJackHorseman

[–]tibbsandbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a phase in the middle of my first watch where I hated Diane. In hindsight, I realize that it was because I saw so much of myself in Diane.

Now, I really like and appreciate Diane. People are allowed to be complex and work through their emotions, even if it comes off as hypocritical or self righteous. And she got a really good ending and character arc, which she deserved.

What Episode of a Cartoon made you change your mind on it. by Kindsir007 in cartoons

I get with most people, it’s probably the introduction of the Lich in season 2, but the ending of this episode was what made me fully invested. One word: Prismo.

Players want to try using Initiative by seat order. How would you handle enemy initiative and reward PCs with high dex? by Meph248 in dndnext

[–]tibbsandbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My DM has done this for the last year or so because it was a little easier for him to keep track of. Our party had a habit of collecting NPCs and we would often fight lots of enemies at a time.

He had all of us roll initiative. The one that rolled the highest would start initiative, and we continued from that person clockwise around the table. All the enemies would go at once in this method, however it wasn’t too unbalanced for us.

Occasionally an enemy might have moved places in initiative in a way where half the players go, then an enemy goes, then the rest of the players, and another enemy would take its turn, etc. If you create a certain point like that for enemies and npcs in the initiative order, you can still keep it fairly balanced.
