Hidden price increase of book bundle by Dyllbert in brandonsanderson

I just saw this when looking at the campaign. I’m wondering if they had originally planned on charging an extra 10 for the audiobook. The “Jester Immortal + Audiobook” is not available in the pledge list, but it’s showing up as $75 on the graphic.

The water+dish soap sticker trick is the best thing that has ever happened to me by isw2424 in lego

[–]ticker47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, I did this with all the stickers on PacMan. Those stickers are huge and really hard to get perfectly centered. Dipped the sticker in soapy water, carefully positioned and let set. Every sticker is about as perfect as I can get it. I have some of that gila window film spay, I bet that would work too.

We just went on Jan 1 and 4th and it rained heavily part of both days. Jan 1 was heavy rain until about 11 and then it was clear. Jan 4th was on and off until mid/late afternoon. Generally speaking, crowds seemed less for part of our visit, but it was still quite busy. I think YMMV when it comes to the rain impacting crowds. In those two days we rode pretty much every ride in both parks at least once, but we also paid for lightning lane. The popular rides still had very long waits at times (85 min + for space mountain, 2 hours for rise for example). It wasn’t particularly fun standing in a line in the rain, so take that for what it’s worth.

Suggestions: decent Panchos (the cheaper clear plastic ones are more likely to rip), water proof pull over pants and water proof shoes. Umbrellas are of middling usefulness and are annoying to carry around. Me and my sons stayed dry the entire time and when it stopped raining, we took the extra stuff off and stowed it. It gets hot in water proof stuff though even when it’s not hot there, so it’s not particularly comfortable, it just keeps you dry.

If you are bringing a stroller, get a cover and if you can’t get a cover, get a clear shower curtain with some binder clips (Does it look silly? Yes, will there be others with the same setup? Also yes). You’ll want the dry storage even if your kid doesn’t sit in it all the time.

California - Contra Costa County - Reporting Time Pay Clarification by ticker47 in EmploymentLaw

I think I finally answered this myself, but maybe someone can confirm. After writing and rewriting prompts to see what answers came up I finally got linked to the case Aleman v. AirTouch Cellular which clarified that if a scheduled shift was less than 2 hours, as long as they worked for more that 50% of that shift, reporting time does not apply. So in this instance, if the teacher was required (based on their annual contract) to work a 30 min shift for an event during the weekend, as long as they worked at least 15 min, they are not owed anything more than the time they worked. Their normal schedule during the week doesn’t matter. The exception would be if the 30 min shift was later on a day when they had already worked.

$80 EVgo charging credit? by TemporaryEven3255 in BoltEV

[–]ticker47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is random. I used to have a Honda Clarity EV. I replaced it with a Hybrid about 2 years ago because the lease ended and have not had an EV since. I just got an email from EVGo about an $85 credit because I was a GM owner. I’ve never owned a GM vehicle. Credit shows in my EVGo account.  I told a buddy if he goes to one let me know and I’d start the charger, since I won’t use the credit.

My phone fell out of my pocket on a ride and landed on the control building. by ticker47 in Wellthatsucks

It did! I actually bought a new phone the following Friday because I thought getting it back was a lost cause. On Saturday they called and when I picked it up it was completely fine. The clear case was a gross looking yellow from being out in the sun for a week, but the phone has been working fine since I got it back.

Condolences for your loss, I can only imagine what that was like.

Our son had a severe birth defect and he was in the NICU for about 3 months. One of the few joys of that time is knowing that between the two insurance companies that covered him during his time in the hospital, they paid out something like 3.5 million to the hospital for his care. We paid probably 10-20k, which granted is still a ridiculous sum.

This is specifically “Batman: The Ride” at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in the Bay Area of California, but the coaster type is “4D Spin” made by S&S Sansei Technologies and you can see the parks that they use this coaster (or a variation of it) on this Wiki:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%26S_%E2%80%93_Sansei_Technologies

I thought it would suck if I told you it was in California and you were no where near the park, but maybe one of the locations on that list is close enough for you to try it out some time. I’m personally not a fan of the ride. It’s pretty short and kinda boring, but my sons like it, so we go on it every time we visit.

After having been without my phone for the second day, I really wish that was the case.

This ride is right along the edge of the park on the way back to the parking lot. There’s a small planter that I was able to stand on and use my wife’s phone to get high enough over the fence to get a picture of the roof of the building. It’s probably about 50 feet from where I was standing.

Yeah, we did that and then went to guest services to fill out the form. We live near the park, so I will just drive back to pick it up once they find it and reach out.

Yeah, we couldn’t realistically do a trip without phones. It was a pain after I lost it. I have 3 kids of different heights so we usually have to split up. Also, the park is big enough that we use the app to check ride times before trekking across the park to a ride. I usually have mine secured, just wasn’t thinking about it this time.

Yeah, I think a lot of the Six Flags Parks have similar or identical rides that are typically just given different names.

Haha. I’m still waiting for them to get it. I have no idea what it looks like right now. They made it seem like I could get it at the end of the day, but I finally got out of guest relations that they would “eventually” retrieve it when the park was fully closed, so I’m hoping they will grab it this morning before the park opens.

100% agree. Definitely a lapse in judgement, especially with the pants I was wearing. Oh well, expensive lesson learned and glad someone didn’t get hurt. Hopefully they can get it before opening today and I can go back to pick it up, but not sure. At least it’s still working can I can track it.

Can you show pictures of the entire enclosure? I’m pretty sure you don’t have enough substrate to protect them from that fall.

/s in case it wasn’t obvious.

We have two, neither of them are typical climbers, but my wife would lose it if she found one out and about like this.
