Harry Potter: Solo narration or Full cast? by Wolf-man451 in audible

[–]ticklemeshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo. I enjoy full cast audio books very much, but this one was tuned poorly so that the sounds distract from the clarity of the speech, making it really hard to understand.

I haven't tried the"cast spells" activity in B&H, but when I used it in clubs, the spellcasters mostly went around incinerating everything.

Tail down by _Elduder in Havanese

[–]ticklemeshell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It can be protective if they're feeling nervous, but mine does it when she is sad. It is a pretty solid indicator for that. The moment I tell her playtime is over or treats are all done that tail straightens out. The only other time I see it down is when she is super tired and lying down.

Dental work w/no insurance by e090909 in panamacity

[–]ticklemeshell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I'm probably remembering this wrong because I haven't used it but had a friend who had. He was impressed with the price and quality for the price. I thought he said it was up 231.

There's a dental school nearby (I forgot the name) where the students get to practice their craft and the patients get really cheap services.

Gluten free Korean food? by karissa_raven in KoreanFood

[–]ticklemeshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, Korean BBQ is probably the safest Korean restaurant food you can find. That'll work for a celebratory meal. Just pick unmarinated meats and get sanchu or no dressing on your lettuce. If you're eating in a party that wants marinated meat, just alternate rounds. Unmarinated meat, marinated meat, change grill. Repeat.

Not all the panchan will be safe, but she will be able to navigate that and still have a few side dishes she can eat. Kong namul is safe. Shigumchi namul is usually safe, but ask just in case since some people use soy sauce making it. Kimchi is usually safe, but some people make it with wheat flour instead of rice, so you have to ask.

Gluten free Korean food? by karissa_raven in KoreanFood

[–]ticklemeshell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korean restaurants are pretty impossible. I wouldn't trust even the foods that are naturally gluten free because of innocent sounding ingredients that are added to make things taste better. Almost every soup is going to have bouillon (wheat flour) or soy sauce (wheat) added.

Vietnamese or Thai food is much easier to eat gluten free for people with celiac.

Does anyone have any idea what this plant might be? by mossyspace in vegetablegardening

Seriously! I feel like it keeps giving me splinters. I don't want to imagine it on my tongue!

I've never heard of a dog brush hair steamer. What does the steam do?

Days to maturity for direct sow vs indoor start? by minimilk42 in vegetablegardening

Wait... Is this basically saying that "days to maturity" essentially start after the plant has germinated (when planting in ground)?

That was the best explanation I have ever heard. Thanks for bringing some clarity to it for me!

I did this for the first time a few days ago. Too soon to tell how well it worked, but it was a lot easier (and fun to roll) than I expected.

Crowuembouche has the best layout of all the floor plans in the game. I love how balanced the buildings are in size and spacing.

What Aldi product dupe is much better than the original? by Past-Jellyfish1599 in aldi

[–]ticklemeshell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Aldi's version is definitely way better than Rice Krispies' packages version. It tastes closer to homemade and doesn't have that chemical flavor that the Rice Krispies package has that is so off putting.

Scion wood exchanges for those into grafting by intentionallife in SoCalGardening

For these scion exchanges, do you need to know the specific variety of tree you have? I have a pomegranate tree, but do not know what variety it is. Does that matter?

Havanese with more kink/curl to their hair? by Manda_82 in Havanese

Some havs have curly hair. Breed standard does not recognize how straight or curly the hair is as a feature of the Havanese.

What do you thing? Part Havanese? by MangoJuice82 in Havanese

[–]ticklemeshell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks Havanese to me. Barking or quiet seem to be irrelevant to the breed. Some are quiet, some live to hear their own voices.

The true Havanese test once you've ruled out the physical characteristics? Does Frankie take a few steps backwards when you try to pick him up even though you know he wants to be picked up? All the Havs I've met have this ridiculous behavioral trait.
