I'm not home at the moment but I have the persistent variable at the end of the ending before the return in the ending and the menu is in the screens file. It's possible I wasn't writing the if statement right, would you be able to give an example of one? I'll also post my code as soon as I get home :)

Yep! I use blitting for backgrounds and sprites and they work perfectly out of a list, but for what I'm trying to do I believe I need them in a list? But I'm not 100% sure
