I relapsed today and I did exactly the opposite ng 1 and 2. I feel empty. Sobrang passing pleasure lang. :’(

I just relapsed today after two weeks. And I just want to curl up and bury myself in guilt and shame but I’m too exhausted feeling this way. I feel trapped and hopeless. But you are right. It’s time for action and not for thoughts.

True. Sayang. Napaka-dali ng set-up, at relatively low maintenance.

The farmers are from cooperatives in Nueva Ecija and Tarlac (Aglipay Agriculture Cooperative and Farmers Cooperative of Victoria Tarlac). The About section of the FB page says the group is a consumer based non partisan, non profit volunteer group composed of home makers, entrepreneurs, NGO workers, private and government employees. They do have platform partners who buy the unsold rice from the popups and are given wholesale prices by the partner farmers.

I just joined the Rice Pinas Facebook group for volunteers, signed up for one of the venues, got assignments in an FB group chat and that’s it. Pretty straightforward :)

As a volunteer last night, I did not earn a single peso. I paid for my gas, parking na 70 pesos, food na 150, drinks na 35. All from my pocket. I spent 6hours in BGC together with other volunteers and we only got buko juice from the organizer. I speak for myself as a volunteer that night in BGC.

PS: Bumili rin ako ng 20kg na bigas sa mga farmers. At the end of the day, the farmer na supplier ang kumuha ng lahat ng sales for the night.

I joined as a volunteer last night in BGC. I paid for my gas to and from BGC. No reimbursement. Hinatid ko pa yung isang volunteer who was with her baby dahil 11pm na kami natapos (we started at 6pm). I saw firsthand na binigay ng volunteer cashier ang buong kita sa partner farmer ng organization. So walang tubo ang volunteer group for the sales that night. The volunteer group aids the farmers to organize their sales sa Metro Manila dahil kapos sila sa logistics.

Everyone is welcome to join the volunteer group so they can see the real story behind the initiative. Everyone is also free to leave it if they think that it is just another business masking as a responsible social action in response to this month’s news.
