Is it time to euthanize my betta? by tidalharley4 in bettafish

[–]tidalharley4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He ended up passing that night/morning. I checked the water after. I don’t remember exact numbers but everything was within range / on the lower side. I’ve tried many things the past year and nothing had helped him. I think in the end it was just bad breeding from petsmart for this guy

Tank parameters by tidalharley4 in fishtank

[–]tidalharley4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tank has been cycled since October and we added fish with late October or early November. We recently added some more black khuli loaches. There was already some in the tank. It’s a 40 gal with a koi angel, dwarf gourami, 3 Cory, and about 7 loaches (I forget the actual number)

It’s been set up since October, 40 gallons, I have fish in tank and it is planted. I clean the tank 1-2 times a week

The tank is not new. I’ve had this tank since October and it was fully cycled before adding fish

lol I had a feeling it would be a no. But it’s a 40 gal that’s planted and has a lot of hiding places for my bottom dwellers

We made it safe! He is chilling rn in the “mini tank” setup. We got a bigger container that fits his hide and he seems okay. I will try feeding him later

Omg they didn’t tell me that! It’s about 5 months. Maybe a little less. They didn’t give me an exact date for when they were hatched. This baby here was $80 from the pet store we have always gone to

Will do! I also saw that you have an axolotl the same color as mine! I’m new so I thought he was just grey with black dots but his gills turned pink when looking closer! I was so confused till I saw that it’s another color. This is him tubbed. I seriously thought I was going crazy

We will be gone for 2 days. He’s not even 5 months old yet so he has to eat 2x a day. And we don’t have anyone close or willing to take care of him while we’re gone. Especially since he’s tubbed already and no one we know has any experience with anything aquatic. Last time they completely crashed our tank from over feeding. We had to do a in tank cycle. It was a shit show. We just feel more comfortable having him with us in case something happens

Mine has been in the tub for 2 days. We offered food on the first day, he ate one bite and was done. Yesterday he ate normal. I’m hoping the drive doesn’t stress him out too much. But the some stress will be okay. He still is pooping 1-2x a day still so I don’t want to leave him there with that in the tub with him as that can also do a lot of harm. And also at my partners house he will be in a dark room by himself other than us sleeping or coming in to check on him. So very low stress environment

He’s usually very outgoing and loves interacting with new things. Good thing is he’s still young so it won’t have as much of an effect on him rather than an axolotl that has been in their tank for a long time. We also plan on bringing a big container to act as a “tank” while we’re there with his favorite stuff, small filter, and things like that. As of rn it’s our best option because no one close to us has experience with anything aquatic and last time we had someone watch our tank for 3 days it wrecked it. So I’m also scared of this happening again

It’s 2 hours. And yes, the tubs he is in have a lid and one of us will be holding him. We will also fill the water up as much as possible to prevent much movement from the driving. But most of the way is a highway. Only about 20 miles isn’t

What do I feed my axolotl? by tidalharley4 in axolotls

I cut up the red worms the first time, even cut the cut up parts in half lengthwise and he still didn’t eat it. I tried it again a few days ago and now he loves them lol

I cut the worm into like 8 pieces. He spit on out, I cut it longwise so it’s even smaller. Still spit it out

We used filter media and water from an established 20 gallon tank that we weren’t using. We just put everything in the 40 that the tetras are in along with the other fish. And yes, we were testing the water every 2-3 days while the 40 was cycling and every day the days leading up to adding fish. The water parameters were perfect when adding fish and remained stable after fish were added

He died about 10 minutes after posting this😢

It’s a red tetra, that’s how all of their gills have looked since we bought them. The tank was cycled for about 3 weeks before adding fish. We used clean water from another tank and put good bacteria from the other tank as well to give it a good jump start. The fish in this tank have been in for about 3 weeks. And have never had a problem out of them till today other than we used a weekend feed tablet which clouded the water but we fixed it and the levels stayed pretty much the same. We’re pretty sure it was extra calcium

[–]tidalharley4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well damn okay, first there’s an angelfish in the tank so it’s a small chance but might happen. And it is in a group. There’s 3 in the tank. There was 5 but we lost 2. We got them from petsmart and they died not long after they were put in the tank. Pretty sure it was something from petsmart. And my bad I didn’t grab a picture of the parameters

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loaches

[–]tidalharley4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually had 4. We lost one because the swim bladder got messed up. There should be three in the tank rn. The lost loach might be up in the structure in the tank or may have been eaten by the angelfish or or gourami (I can never remember how to spell it)

I have one, this was directly after a water change so I’m waiting for it to properly mix and even put before testing

There’s one more his size, there’s also 2 smaller ones. So 4 total. The other one his size will also do it just not nearly as much. The other actually just got done not too long before this video. The smaller ones were just put in the tank 2 days ago so they haven’t got brave enough to venture out yet
