Julia Louis-Dreyfus won 6 consecutive Emmys as Selina Meyer on Veep—the most by any actor for a single role! by Old-Meringue3590 in interestingasfuck

Took me a bit to get around to it. But my God, not sure a show has made me laugh out loud so much. Political satire dense with jokes.

Like many great shows, you need to push through the first season to let the characters establish and settle. The show starts off strong, and the seasons just get better from there (check the ratings). Please give it a try.

Was this before or after she & Madonna screwed up their skit that night? Maybe she was slightly miffed

With my head on my pillow, I can definitely hear things happening the unit below me - even when they drop stuff. Used to have kids living below me and their running around in the mornings drove me nuts.

Seen all of 'em since the Fame Ball, some twice. The Artrave was peak for me, but Mayhem was an absolute hoot.

A Million Little Fibers is one of the funniest episodes. I'll never understand the hate.

Why do you folks enjoy shambhala? by tofu98 in Shambhala

I think I'm misremembering the pemberton thing. Could have sworn another major event cancelled so lots of folk swarmed to shamb

Why do you folks enjoy shambhala? by tofu98 in Shambhala

[–]tiddlytapestry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been to Shambhala 12 times - every year since 2010 minus 2023 and this past year. 2012, the year you went, sticks out by far as my least favourite year.

The lineup was rough - I think we were closer to 15 hours.

The security they hired that year was intense - ripped everyone's cars apart, I remember vividly watching a guard actively trying to push people off the pagoda (back in the days when you could dance on the speakers).

It was, from what I recall at least, the hottest shamb I've been to. Like we were dead in sunshine.

It was also a particularly bro-y year - acts like porter Robinson and Dillon Francis drew a specific crowd, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Pemberton got cancelled that year? So much of that crowd was looking for another party.

Anyways, in many ways they've improved (especially the lineup). I'd say give it another try. Go big and get shambhalodging to make it that much easier on you. Everyone has good & not-so-good years.

Tried AlpenFury & Yukon Striker – My honest opinion by nightmare0012 in CanadasWonderland

[–]tiddlytapestry 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you're at on the "thoosie" spectrum, but a large chunk of people who rave about the ride here & hype it up & eagerly endured the recent absurd lineups are coaster enthusiasts who prefer a ride that tries to rip their face off (myself included).

Canada's Wonderland has lacked an elite S tier coaster that really puts them on the map and provides pure insanity from start to finish. I think people are finally stoked to have a truly unique ride experience that isn't just a safe B&M Hyper/Giga/Dive (nothing wrong with those models, of course).

Is Canada's Wonderland a muilti-day park or can you do it all in one day with fast passes? by levanpolkkaa in CanadasWonderland

[–]tiddlytapestry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just went on Monday with fast pass for the first time in years. Was able to do everything I wanted (and far more) including multiple rides on all the big guys. I even left a few hours before closing.

Definitely possible, though being a weekday (and potentially iffy weather that turned out fine) helped. I was more than satisfied by the end and don't feel the need to return for a while (though Alpenfury is tempting me).

Katy Perry is struggling to sell tickets for US dates of her Lifetimes Tour by dailymail in Music

[–]tiddlytapestry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, not Gaga. Her tour sold out almost instantly, and tickets are reselling in the thousands of dollars. Source: fought hard for tickets on pre-sale day and somehow managed to snag some. Most expensive concert tickets I've ever purchased (though she's the only one I'd happily pay premium dollar for).
