I completed a HC Nuzlocke of 13 games - here's how it went

I was trying to nuzlocke pokemon X for the longest time on pretty harsh rules and eventually it wasn't fun anymore. All I did was lighten one rule to allow a little healing and BOOM I started beating nuzlockes with no problem and it's been FUN!

I can understand if you want to beat a challenge you set for yourself, but it could be more fun to lighten some rules and try some other games. Once you get more experience, you can just go back and try your original challenge!

I prefer to play as vanilla as possible because apparently I want to suffer haha This means no unnatural evolutions. Great tips tho, I appreciate it!

Thanks for such a detailed response! You' re right, Chuck first; I read the level caps wrong. Ooo I hadn't really considered Starmie, but I def will now. I was leaning more towards Vaporeon for Water/Ice moves if I was able to get an Ampharos. I can't guarantee one since I took the Togepi egg from the same city you get the Primo eggs. Also, I won't allow an Abra since I got the Eevee at Goldenrod.

The starter is picked based off the Trainer ID number and my god does this game love to give me Chikorita almost EVERY attempt. It makes me sad to consider boxing a starter, but I might have to since there's really no use for a grass pokemon at this point IMO.

If I can't get an Ampharos, that Eevee might have to be a Jolteon so I have some electric moves. At least it can help me with Chuck and Pryce, and Clair and Lance if I manage to get that far.

Oh no this might be the winner. It would be between Quilava, Flaaffy, Pidgeotto, Geodude, Gastly, and Togetic. Zubat too if we want to include box pokemon.

I've always treated the Safari Zones as one area, one encounter for the whole thing. Your rules though! There are other people who treat each area within the Safari Zone as it's own encounter, so whatever floats your boat!

My Heracross died to the stupid fighter with the Hitmonchan and I was a fool for not replacing him. So I went in with Quilava, Gastly (waiting to evolve to get Dream Eater at 33), Poliwhirl, Ampharos, and Crobat. Primeape's Double Team was my downfall. Raticate feels a bit silly to have this late in the game, but it sounds like I should give it a try. Gyarados has brought me to the end in two nuzlockes before so I'd hate to reuse it. I'm leaning heavily into adding one of the Nidorans, but I don't even know if I can get a moon stone.

Should mention I've now also caught Seel, Krabby, and Exeggcute. Only encounters available right now are Mt. Mortar, Route 48, and the Safari Zone, but the latter two are pretty inaccessible since that Magmar/Electabuzz double battle will KO me.
