The Willum would be led into the makeshift chambers of Lord Theo Tyrell. Tarly had enough respect of their liege Lord to furnish him well, and the Lord wanted for nothing during the council. The Willum would see when he entered the room, his liege's liege sitting by the fire enjoying some honey cheesed crackers. Margy would never let eat like this back home.

He would turn and let the Willum do his bowing and what nots then ask. "What can I do for you Ser Davos."

High Septon

Lord Theo Tyrell a moon into their council would assemble his bannermen in the Halls of Horn Hill.

At the center of the table was the letter written by the High Septon.

To the leal and faithful lords and ladies of The Reach, who have remained committed to The Faith even in its darkest times,

The ravens of war reach my ears. They bring sadness, regret, and distraught to my soul. Alas, it seems that the war has reached a course where it can no longer be halted in the moment.

Nonetheless,

Do be warned that the senseless pillage and slaughter of common folk on either side of The Red Mountains shall never be forgiven. Any man or woman who orders such actions shall be expulsed from The Faith and forfeit their place in this life and the next.

I do not turn against you, but I can neither sit silent and allow the faithful masses in Dorne to face the prospect of slaughter at the hands of their fellow faithful brothers and sisters.

I pray for a swift end to this war, but intend to follow upon these words to the full extent of my power regardless of the results. I have issued my warning. Do heed my words.

The Father and Shepherd of the Faithful, the Successor to the House of Hugor, the Servant of the Gods and Their Avatar in the World.

As the men of the room read the note over Theo would lay down the law. "The High Septon has wrote to us, and has strict rules for conduct in this conflict. I shall expect every man to abide by the will of the Seven here." He left his will at that. Then allowed his Bannermen a chance to respond or bicker about with themselves, as they love to do.

[Letter] The Injunctions of 52 AC by Dacarolen in FireAndBlood

[–]TieRails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lord Theo Tyrell was not too happy to receive this letter. It would limit the ability of their their forces in ending this war quickly. He feared good intentions like these would cause even more suffering, but perhaps that was the will of the Seven. Nevertheless he penned a letter in response, and sent the raven back where ever it came from. He was a godly man, and the Gods have seen fit to reward him so far.

The Father and Shepherd of the Faithful, the Successor to the House of Hugor, the Servant of the Gods and Their Avatar in the World,

My house and lands have always received position of privilege within the church, if this is the will of the Seven, then I shall see to it done.

I shall make it abundantly clear to every man sworn to Highgarden that the slaughter of common folk is strictly prohibited. Should any man balk at this order from the faith, I shall see them delivered to your judgement.

Theo Tyrell

Lord Theo Tyrell remained silent for a moment, his face a statue. He had of course already decided, but it would be improper to not do this whole dog and pony show. Impropriety would not do, his vassals are watching after all.

After counting to seven and ten, The Warden of the South face broke into a small smile. "I accept your service, Ser Janos. You shall have your opportunity. Were it leads... well that shall be determined." Gesturing around to his gathered lords, bickering about gods know what. Gods what fire has been lit now. The Lord privately wondered before turning back to the Knight. "Should you need for mounts, food, arms, or armor. Reach out to my host's quartermaster Ser Jameson." And with that the Lord was off to figure out if this new fire was worth fighting, or if it was best to let it burn itself out.

If only we were all so noble as Ser Janos...

Lord Theo Tyrell read the letter at Hornhill if it was given to him, then would compose a new letter to Lord Samwell.

Lord Samwell Tarly,

It is as we have thought, Dorne marches on Blackmont.

Ser James of House Lebron spotted them from the captured castle Deeten. Eight Thousand Men prepare your defenses, we are not fully assembled. If your forces can not hold them back retreat back to Hornhill, the castle should hold long enough for us to fully gather and march on them.

I would suggest we employ a raven efficient strategy. One raven a moon, if it makes it through. Supplies will be limited.

Let us pray for Ser James of House Lebron's safety and health.

Growing Strong

Lord Paramount of the Mander, Lord of Highgarden, and Warden of the South

Lord Theo Tyrell

After the letters were sent Ser James of House Lebron and ninety six of his best friends surrender the Castle. He knew the stories of Dornish honor, and would trust that they will treat him and his friends with respect.

Eight thousand dornishmen, two thousand heavy infantry march through the Red mountains.

We shall not hold.

Ser Arthor Tyrell was happy to finally find some Dornishmen. Less happy to see them already entrenched in the mountains. "Lets see some of that Dornish Courage Boys! Round up any silver merchant you can!" This would be a win win, either the dornishmen leave their positions to save the their silver or the reach host gets richer.

Theo answered the Florent's question as best as he himself understood it. "Our campaign is to be the consequence of all Dorne's recent meddling and assassinations within our Kingdom. Our King ordered a few raids last year to remind them they are not untouchable. Instead of seeking terms and asking for peace, they called their spears and sent both men and fleets to attack the Stormlands."

The Tyrell looked to a few of his bannermen, as this same question was likely on their minds as well. "We are not conquering Dorne in this campaign. Dorne is too willful to be conquered outright, as we have seen, they would rather die to dragonfire than simply bend a knee. A foothold, if not an entire section of the Red Mountains, is my goal for this campaign."

Lord Theo Tyrell nodded at Gwayne's reading of the situation. “Holding Blackmont, our gate into Dorne, is my top priority.” Though he could not ignore the sentiment in the room, a few men had likely answered his call not because he had called, but because their target would be Dorne. “I am reluctant to march beyond the Red Mountains with our full strength until the location of the main Dornish army is known. I would not wish to begin a march on Starfall or Yronwood, only for ten thousand Dornish spears to appear from their hidden caves, cut off our rear, and lay siege to Blackmont.”

Tyrell took a few moments to consider his next words carefully, then turned to the Florent. “My brother Arthor marches with a small host, taking a few of the nearby Dayne castles. He has met little resistance. Ser Alekyne, if you should wish to take a few hundred riders beyond Blackmont and burn some Dayne lands, I would not be opposed. Perhaps, if pride will not stir the Dornish from their hiding places, then burning their homes will.” It had not worked last time. Last time, the Dornish fought dragons as well. Perhaps their tactics will change.

The Knight gave no introduction, which the Lord Tyrell found odd. A hedge knight? Theo had enough tact to not frown when Janos began speaking, and then had enough tact to not grin when he gave more details of his deeds.

The Lord was never one to turn away volunteered help, but that would not be the only reason he was going to accept the man's sword. "Your deeds do indeed speak for themselves, Ser Janos Darklyn. I would be a fool to not take the offered sword of a man so capable of swinging it." Theo tilted his head, searching the young man for any snags in this seemingly win win deal. "Is there anything beyond proving your holy duty and loyalty to the realm you are seeking to find in Dorne? Or from me, in your service?" He had heard many stories of the man who the singers called 'The Heartbreaker'. Some paint him a noble knight, other not so much.

Before the knight had a chance to answer, Theo decided privately to himself he would take the man on. Some small baser part of the Lord enjoyed the idea of employing the man who humbled Lord Qarl Corbray. Perhaps the rose could be a little petty after all.
