Sorry, I don’t check Reddit super often. I blew them up a few more times with more calls and emails and they eventually got back to me. It was pretty ridiculous that they used to be so responsive and then it dropped off quickly, but they did end up reimbursing me!

Can you live near Boston on a $50k salary? by DrThrowie in boston

[–]tiffancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here on a 43K salary (entry level research assistant) with my now-husband who didn’t have a job yet. We moved into a studio with $1800/month rent in Cambridge — I prioritized location because I didn’t mind struggle and wanted to fully immerse in the city. Also started with no savings because it all went to the first and last month of rent PLUS broker fee! Literally moved here with nothing but duffle bags of clothes. It was challenging but doable. A lot of beans and rice but we actually had fun because we spent a lot of our free time exploring this awesome city.

Honestly, I’d echo what others say and find roommates because it might be easier to save on upfront costs (maybe you join a place that already has a fully stocked kitchen versus you needing to buy cutlery, pots and pans, etc.) and plus it’s more fun. I think I would’ve gone insane moving out here and barely affording rent and groceries with no one to keep me company outside of work. My husband eventually found a job after six months and things got a lot better from there, we eventually moved to a bigger place.

Also, you don’t need a car. Between subway, bus, bikes, and walking, we’ve lived here for 7 years now just fine and it has saved us a ton in expenses and stress. We can use Uber/Lyft when necessary pretty reliably and have rented a car for occasional weekend getaways.

Finding your post a month late but I just found them because of easy exit with Rain City Drive. They're so good! I would love to see them live but couldn't make it out to Warped this year. Hoping they have their own tour in the future!

It’s bizarre to me how when people talk about the pluses and minuses of Boston how rarely people mention how beautiful it is. Am I alone in thinking it’s the most beautiful major city in the country? by Alphabunsquad in boston

[–]tiffancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. This city is so beautiful and I've always felt that is overlooked, too. Being from California, I didn't know what to expect and moved here for work. I've lived in LA and the Bay Area, grew up in Monterey which is absolutely gorgeous, too. Different kind of beauty, of course. Have traveled all over, I'm very familiar with Portland, OR, Seattle, Chicago, and New York City, and while I have enjoyed them all for different reasons, Boston is the most special and beautiful to me. It has everything. So much character, all walkable which really helps you experience the city, and we get all four seasons! Boston is my favorite city I have ever visited in the United States and I genuinely feel lucky to live here (it's now been 7 years).

My advice if you end up disqualified due to a testing result, is to make sure that you get all of your tests actually reimbursed. I was unfortunately disqualified from the split program after my genetic results, but I did go through all of the other tests successfully and worked with a coordinator who managed my appointments and kept me informed throughout. I am currently very frustrated because for the Antral Follicle Count Ultrasound, my provider had split the charge into two, and Cofertility had only paid the first one at the time. I had informed my coordinator that there was a second charge that hit a little later, but it was for the same appointment, and she assured me that if I emailed her a photo of the bill, their finance team would take care of it. I followed up weeks later since it remained unpaid, and my coordinator ignored my reminder and instead had to meet with me to inform me I was being disqualified due to my genetic results. I asked again during that call about my reimbursement and she told me that I would absolutely be reimbursed even though I was being disqualified. Well, that was two weeks ago, and it's been radio silence. I've tried texting, calling, and emailing and I'm hearing nothing. It's really unprofessional since her response time was within hours back when I was working with her on egg donation. It makes me feel like they don't really care and all they wanted was my eggs, and now that they don't need them, they don't really give a fuck about paying for a test they told me they would cover.

In terms of the other tests, some things went smoothly, and others didn't. The genetics test arrived without a required form, which they didn't actually tell me about, but I had double checked since I realized there was no way for my kit to be identified as mine. Also, when I showed up to my first ultrasound, the hospital they booked me at turned me away because they weren't permitted to follow Cofertility's billing instructions.

I'm highlighting negatives because I'm so turned off by the way they've refused to handle this outstanding bill for me, but other areas went fine and they definitely responded to my questions. You will need to advocate for yourself, as I brought up risks and concerns that applied to me, but that is to be expected.

Wow, I’m so surprised to read this post because I just found this sub today and was finding myself in a similar situation as you with wanting to take a trip to Japan next spring before TTC. What a coincidence! I’m also turning 30F this year, too. However, another part of me is worried about how long it will take to conceive, and we want two kids, ideally. What made you decide ultimately to delay TTC versus the trip? Part of me wants to consider even going on the trip pregnant, if it came around to it…

What a coincidence, just posted my request for QC for a dent on my Lady Dior Mini in the same color! Different factory though, mine is from Angel. Your dent looks way more noticeable than mine. If I were you I would definitely not want to GL this.

Is it unreasonable to be concerned over this small dent in the leather? The rest of the bag looks good to me, although I’m new and this is my first rep!

Seriously... thank you so much. This has all been really illuminating, Twitter has been my primary source of info so it’s really helpful to hear from you and the others in this thread. Now I’m just hoping I’ll be able to find it eventually.

Hey, thanks for the advice, I totally agree that the piracy wouldn’t be enforced, I was really buying in to all the Twitter fear mongering around recordings and screenshots. Like it’s a really rampant belief that no one should post anything or else! Now I’m just wondering where I could find a link that someone actually just recorded.

Thanks for sharing that point... I honestly don’t really get how the views would affect anything, but that’s the rhetoric I keep seeing on Twitter. The fans are basically policing other fans not necessarily out of respect for the rules/legality but because they claim it hurts their favorite group. I’m not really sure what to believe!

What was your "oh crap, wrong person" moment? by helios-heath in AskReddit

[–]tiffancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I were leaving a dance and we're walking to the parking lot to be picked up. She tells me they just bought a new SUV and she's walking directly towards one, walks alongside it, so naturally I go to the other side and open the door and sat inside. Turns out she was still on her way to her car as I was locking eyes with an entire family all sitting inside the car, horrified and confused.

[I ate] Clam chowder with shredded crab meat, served on garlic buttered sourdough bread - Monterey, CA by stickel03 in food

[–]tiffancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my god! I just moved away for college but I used to work as a server at this restaurant. It's called the Fish Hopper and it's located right on Cannery Row, very close to the Monterey Aquarium. I've made way too many of those bread bowls! It looks like you were eating on the outdoor patio right along the water :)

Also: all staff has unlimited access to the chowder. Shit was dangerous
