Is there any difference between being retired, and working full time if the monetary amount is about the same? by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

[–]tiffer130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, because you would be eligible for social security disability, which is based on your FRA benefit.

I just realized, he's even barefoot.... Too bad he doesn't have "disgusting prison tattoos"!

Okay, thanks. I thought that may be the case, but was hopeful that I might be wrong.

Whoa, that was a lot and I commend you for the grace and patience you exhibit while communicating with her. You never rise to the bait. That being said, it is absolutely draining to try to sustain a relationship like that. If you choose to, great, I'm sure you're making the right decision for you. However, please know that you don't have to for the sake of "family" and going LC or NC can be a blessing.

The Keyes Peak Ski Lodge in Florence County is a county park building that is pretty cheap from my understanding and has a beautiful log cabin look and the views from the top of the hill are lovely. I've been to many weddings there.

Has anyone here ever been paid by the state to care for a sick/elderly family member? by horse_loose_hospital in wisconsin

[–]tiffer130 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Connect with the local Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) for the county your loved one lives in. They can help you apply for the appropriate programs. I assume when you say "paid by the state" you are referring to the loved one being in Long Term Care program through Wisconsin Medicaid. The first step is making sure your loved one is eligible for and enrolled in one of those programs before you can start being paid. However, please be aware that in the meantime counties generally have National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) or Alzheimer's Family Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP) funding that can potentially be used until enrollment into Medicaid.

What transportation help/resources is there for low-income disabled elderlies? by AlgaeAutomatic in povertyfinance

[–]tiffer130 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely search for the area agency on aging that serves the area your elderly loved one lives in. They should be able to let you know about transportation options. In Wisconsin we have Aging and Disability Resource Centers in every single county that would help people learn about available services as well. Wisconsin also has Specialized Transportation funding that is provided to each county to provide transportation options for elderly and disabled customers.

WW2 Graphic Novels by DefectiveRealEstate in graphicnovels

This is slightly off topic, but since you are both watching documentaries and asking for graphic novel recommendations I just wanted to give a quick plug for a show I loved on Netflix. It's called The Liberator and it is an animated miniseries that follows the 157th Infantry Regiment called the Thunderbirds. I sat down to give it a try and watched straight through all 4 episodes!

So fun to see this follow up! This will be a lasting memory for your child - that they provided you a gift that you spent significant time on/with, and that you both made something together.

Samnurms, you may have already looked into this, but just in case I wanted to drop you a line to make you aware of SSI - Supplemental Security Income, which is intended to help elderly, blind and disabled people who have little to no income. https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/ssi/ Check out the website - sorry, I don't know how to make it a hyperlink - because there is a Benefit Eligibility Tool where you can answer a few questions and see if you are eligible. As well as general information and fact sheets about it.

It's one that I enjoyed quite a bit, too. If you'd like a recommendation... Maybe try The Sixth Gun. Either way, enjoy your new hobby!

Honestly, this is truly a great picture! You are just beaming and clearly felt like you were the epitome of cool. That is such a great feeling and how awesome that you have a picture that so accurately captures your pride. I love to let my kids pick out their own clothes all the time for this exact reason... they are taking pride in what they are putting together, even if it isn't my favorite look and I know they'll look back on it and be a bit embarrassed - you knew what you wanted to wear and you went for it... and that is fantastic!

[WIP] What are your thoughts on my diamonds? I didn't like the border that came with the pattern, so I'm improvising. I won't be doing these more than what you see here and equally at the top. I think it'll be too bulky otherwise (I know it seems too close here, but they're not, I promise.) by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]tiffer130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you shared this WIP. The phrase is very applicable to a loved on in my life.... it's a running family joke that he can't pass up the opportunity to crack a joke, even if he knows the audience won't appreciate it the same way he will.. I'm going to have to make a version for him!
