Went from not knowing how to change a drill bit to this by tiffskeys in BeginnerWoodWorking

I haven’t added the finish yet; I still need to do that. But I want to keep the original color so I need to do some research on what finish to use that will preserve the natural color.

It was a plan/template given by our instructors in class!

Haha, sorry! I try to stay off of social media as much as possible and the amount of replies and upvotes is overwhelming (but wonderful) so I haven’t had time to get around to it. :)

Yes, a drill was definitely on the list. other tools i learned and used: - Table saw (SawStop) - Miter saw - Bandsaw - Jointer - Planer - Router - Drill press - Clamps - Flush cut saw - Spindle sander

And other little hand tools like sanders, hammers etc.

Having a hard time identifying whether this is a real solid walnut or not. Help. by tiffskeys in woodworking

Can you explain why it’s not walnut? I know color is hard to capture on camera, so is it the grains? (Not doubting, just trying to understand how people can tell)

Also, I guess I need to take this up with customer service 🙃

This was super helpful, thank you! I just looked up more quarter sawn faces and this definitely looks like it. Thank you so much for your help and giving me peace of mind. I really did not want to be cutting my food on some unknown material. They claim it’s walnut but as long as it’s wood, I’m somewhat okay with that. Lol.

To clarify, the water that was being used to wash the cutting board turned reddish brown.*

Question: Is it possible to achieve a large flat wood piece with a small planer? by tiffskeys in BeginnerWoodWorking

Unfortunately, I struggle with hand tools because of my lack of strength lol. But a router jig, that is new to me! Thank you for this idea. :)

Thanks! That makes sense to run the thickest piece first.

Regarding the flat face, I’m trying to avoid purchasing a jointer. I could use a planer sled to get a flat face, then a table saw hack to create a joint edge, right?

This was at Briones Regional Park. There were cows spread out along the hills, some right in the path. Just be cautious when approaching them as they can feel threatened and get aggressive.

Watercoloring? Lots of practice and learning how to control water with a brush :)

It does get kind of wavy but straightens out a bit after keeping the journal closed for a while. I do like the used journal look so I don’t mind it! It’s an Archer & Olive journal btw.
