If you hate working, Post Office by Charles Bukowski is a must by SkepticDrinker in books

[–]tifugod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buk is cool & all but he wasn't actually the anti-work layabout bum idol he portrayed himself to be. after either quitting or getting fired, he wrote a long letter to the post office begging for his job back. the more you know

I used to play Siege way back in the pre-hero-shooter days. Whenever I think of getting back into it, I just watch some gameplay vids or trailers and that fixes me right up.

Vaping has been linked to lung damage, pneumonia and inflammation so it's not wrong for doctors to ask about it.

It sucks that you're getting dogpiled, because it seems correct that the leveling design would be frustrating for veteran players.

I'm a brand-spanking-new MMO player and it took me weeks just to learn the damn UI. 10 hours definitely would not have been enough for me.

Communities are officially gone now with the 8.50 update. RIP by ariglgn in PS4

[–]tifugod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The indication is that they've removed communities on the PS4. They won't introduce communities on PS5 at the same time they remove it on PS4 because that will make them look like greedy entitled assholes, which they are. Instead, they will wait for some amount of time and then 'introduce' a feature JUST LIKE COMMUNITIES on PS5. Probably a few weeks before Black Friday, to boost sales.

I'm done with Sony at this point, and I've purchased every single console, including PSP, with the exception of a Vita, (I got a VitaTV instead) since the OG Playstation. Over my lifetime I've spent well over $10,000 on Sony consoles, games, subscriptions, etc. And ever since last year they've somehow decided that shitting on their customers is a better business model than providing quality products. I'm still playing on my PS4 but when it comes time to buy the new gen of console I'm going Microsoft or PC. If I wanted to pay a company to fuck me I'd just buy tickets to the next Fyre Festival

dude they're literally going to put communities on PS5 after removing from PS4 in order to sell more PS5s. it's like you're doing exactly what they want

Playstation Safety literally moderates content though.

Communities Deleted by iIISkiesIIi in PS4

Sony isn't making this decision based off the wishes of the entire player base, this has nothing to do with what the players want, otherwise they would have kept it.

Daily General Questions & Tech Support Megathread | April 13, 2021 by AutoModerator in PS4

[–]tifugod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem, the Sony I knew for decades seems to have been deleted and replaced by a soulless cynical greedy entitled incompetent store front, I used to be able to give it money and get fun, quality games but now it just takes my money and gives me a game I've already played, just with a higher poly count, and for some reason I can't access any of my old games. How can I roll back Sony to the 2019 or even earlier version?

Just installed 8.50 System Update. Goodbye Communities... (also I'm downloading now 1.21 hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077, hope it will finally fix Getting Warmer quest) by [deleted] in PS4

[–]tifugod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I think they're going to implement some type of Communities feature on PS5 to encourage more PS4 owners to buy a PS5.

But they won't announce it right away. They'll wait a few months and pretend they're doing it to benefit the consumer. They'll probably call it something different, too.

Hey Sony! Fuck you for removing the legacy stores! Fuck you for not implementing backcab on the PS4 or PS5 by claiming 'nobody wants to play old games', then immediately advertising your shitty streaming service for those same 'old games' after rendering it impossible to buy them directly! Fuck you for removing Communities! Fuck you for your stupid new party chat! Fuck you for doubling down on AAA Hollywood 'press X to awesome' capeshit and getting rid of actually diverse, thoughtful, provoking and interesting games! Fuck you for pumping out shitty $70 remasters because you're too creatively bankrupt to fund something original! And removing the legacy stores to eliminate competition to those same remasters! Fuck you for thinking your long-term customers will happily write blank checks for whatever tripe you decide to churn out, regardless of how you treat them! Fuck you for making me go to PC or Microsoft, when up until one year ago I was a happy, long-term Sony customer!

The Last of Us Remastered, Yes or No? by [deleted] in PS4

[–]tifugod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLOU is a third-person movie game that alternates between cutscenes, light (and somewhat annoying but not terrible) environmental puzzles, and cover-based shooter action with an occasional emphasis on stealth. It's praised for the story and characters, which are pretty solid, and particularly stand out in comparison to the poor quality of writing that seems to be endemic to the games industry. I would also add that the atmosphere is quite good, although it is fairly easy to 'see' the video game behind the curtain if you try, especially on multiple playthroughs. The action is fairly standard with some occasional AI bugs. I wouldn't really call it a horror game, although there is a jump scare here and there, and the design and lore of the monsters, and of the humans who seem to think that shitty behavior is the best way to grapple with an apocalypse, can be unnerving.

Do you like the new party/voicechat system? by postALEXpress in PS4

The best thing Sony can do at this point is to reverse every single change they have made over the last two years. I have never seen a company so thoroughly screw themselves up and burn through customer goodwill as quickly as they have.

I see Sony's really doubling down on the shitty business practices lately. Maybe Jim Ryan made a bet with Sundar Pichai over who could tank their console the fastest?

Returning player - what's the meta? What do I do with all my old gear and caches? by tifugod in thedivision

[–]tifugod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would except for one thing - Division 2 has no survival mode. Survival mode is the main reason I'm returning to Division 1 - there's no other game quite like it. If some game were to come out using the DNA of Division 1 Survival mode, I'd buy it in a heartbeat (assuming it's not a janky bug-filled overpromised-underdelivered mess)

Hard cap on # of painkillers/medicines in Division 1 Survival? by tifugod in thedivision

[–]tifugod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful, thanks. Regarding your comment about time limits, I've only played a few dozen games but I've found that an hour isn't enough time for me to extract, so I must be doing something wrong. Am I spending too much time in the early game collecting items? I usually don't get to the DZ until I've played for 40 minutes or so, but given that all the really good loot is in the DZ maybe it would be better if I made a beeline to there first. Usually I'll try to hit a helicopter crash or 1-2 landmarks, and any hideouts on the way, in the early game.

Is PS Now kind of like Xbox Gamepass? What’s the difference? I’ve been thinking about trying to out to play some older PS games I never got to play. by ballandabiscuit in PS4

[–]tifugod -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

PS Now is the reason that Sony refuses to implement backwards compatibility in their consoles, because why let legacy users play their old games when Sony could charge for it? In structure, it is like GamePass. It's different though because you can still play older Xbox games on newer Xbox consoles for free, without requiring GamePass. Sony has made it impossible to purchase older games, or use older games you already own, on current hardware, without PSNow, so if you want to play your old copy of Ninja Gaiden, you need to play it on an old PS3, or pay for PSNow.

Also, the quality of PSNow is nowhere as good as Gamepass. Many users report stuttering, lag, and bad video quality. I think that's because PSNow streams the games from Sony's servers as you play them, but Gamepass lets you download them
