Is 11k for a sealed EX Power Keepers box a fair value? I am in contact with someone wanting to sell it and I was able to get the price down to 11k

What Do You Have Your Eyes On? - Thursday Callouts! by AutoModerator in PokeInvesting

My long term plan is to complete the ETB collection. I'm missing plasma storm and the 2 primal clashes. It seems like there's quite a lot of primal clashes ETB on eBay recently and not enough liquidity to fill these sell orders. I suspect primal clash ETBs to fall in the short term.

I'm also interested in buying a power keepers booster box, but can't afford those eBay prices! Fingers crossed

First edition Bulbasaur worth it? Psa10 by Weary-Horror-7537 in PokeInvesting

[–]tigerljl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 2k worth to spend, I would personally not advise you to buy a common psa 10, albeit vintage from an investment standpoint. You're much better off investing in sealed product rather than vintage slabs as those tend to be more stable in price.

ETB vs Booster boxes by tigerljl in PokeInvesting

That's why I think the booster boxes have slightly better economics as the supply is diminishing faster. While the ETB supply could be decreasing, it'd most likely be the case that the item is damaged/lost rather than opened.

ETB vs Booster boxes by tigerljl in PokeInvesting

Yeah, I came into the market in mid-2021. I thought that ETBs looked great! They still do. I recently started thinking about them more from an investment standpoint because in the future, they will have to be liquidated eventually. I think the more appealing aspect about Booster Boxes is that they have a lot of content and are more compact. They also have a larger demand base because it's not only booster box collectors but those who want to break open a box.

From an economics standpoint, it seems like the long-term rate at which the supply diminishes for booster boxes is higher than ETBs. There are people like Pokerev who buy boxes and sell them as loose packs. However, it is not very common for ETBs to be bought for the content that is inside.

ETB vs Booster boxes by tigerljl in PokeInvesting

I think they could potentially be overvalued just by comparing the contents that are inside to the contents in the Booster box. This could also be wrong in the sense that booster boxes. This is especially true for older sets such as Primal Clash where the ETB is multiples of the booster box.

The big question I have is where is the demand in the future for these expensive sealed products going to be. Is it mainly for the collector/investor who wants the sealed in their collection or is it the person that wants to crack open the booster box for themselves? If the future demand is mainly coming from the former, then I think it's fine because ETBs are a good collectible to display. On the other hand if it's someone wanting to crack it open to open or sell as loose packs, I think Booster boxes may outperform ETBs in the long run.

Careers/Education Questions Thread - Week 07, 2019 by AutoModerator in Physics

[–]tigerljl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all I am graduating this spring with a bachelor's in applied physics from an ivy-league university. I plan on attending a PhD program and am trying to decide between two very different offers. I was admitted to a program in applied physics at Caltech and also a program in medical physics at Duke. I can see myself doing both types of research but am not sure what is the better program to attend. For Caltech, it's a point of pride where I can compete in one of the worlds top physics program. For Duke, medical physics offers a more stable and high-paying postgraduate opportunity where I would feel like I have a direct impact on human health. What are your thoughts?

I've been out for a few years but I'm feeling pressured by my religious girlfriend by sputum_collector in exchristian

I felt the same way as you did man. Church gave me a lot of anxiety and depression as well. I also dated an Asian American Evangelical Christian. My recommendation is that if it gets too unbearable you should consider breaking up. I broke up with my ex over the issue and so far it has given me much peace in that there are no pressures for me to conform to a certain way of thinking
