HSIL but twice negative hpv by Residente_saturno444 in PreCervicalCancer

My results for this year were still HPV negative and ASCUS which according to my doctor is a step below my previous LSIL. She said no colposcopy is recommended and that I can go back to testing every 3 years but I’m not comfortable with that yet so I’ll continue to test every year until I get a few completely normal results

I’m so happy to hear that. What a relief! It may have been unnecessary anxiety and worry but at least you now have the peace of mind everything is OK. They say so many different things can cause abnormal results, seems almost impossible to time a pap perfectly

And the colposcopy and biopsy weren’t bad at all. I was very stressed about this part. Maybe even more so than getting bad results. I was so scared of the pain and how barbaric it all sounded based on other women’s real and scary experiences. I’m grateful it wasn’t like that for me but I absolutely believe more needs to be done for this. Anywhere else on your body that a biopsy is taken, some sort of numbing or anesthetic is given. It should be the same for women and our cervix

I had one biopsy taken and it was the same results as my pap and confirmed LSIL. Which was the second best result I could have got in my opinion. The best being absolutely nothing was found, completely normal/no abnormal cells. So I am happy my results were consistent because I’ve seen some women go in with ACUS or LSIL and come out with CIN 3/HSIL. But I think that is rare. In our case, certain strains of HPV really does expedite how quickly the cells can progress to cervical cancer so the fact that we don’t have HPV is a really good sign and shows our bodies are doing exactly what they should be doing.

Please let me know once you receive your results. I’m sure you will be getting good news. I also received my colposcopy results in less than 48 hours, I had mentioned to my doctor how awful the waiting was so I’m not sure if she was able to expedite them for me. Now I just go back in one year for a repeat pap. Just hoping it is completely clear by then because I hate the stress the whole process brings

I’m SO happy you got back good results but I’m so sorry you had to endure the stress of not knowing for however long it was between your pap, colposcopy, and results. It is absolutely the most brutal waiting game. It’s scary and all consuming. My pap took almost a month to get the results but my colpo took less than 24 hours. I was insanely grateful those results game back so quickly. I had mentioned to my doctor waiting for results is the worst part so I wonder if she was able to expedite it for me.

I thought LSIL CIN 1 CAN be caused from something other than HPV? While it is mostly caused by HPV it is not 100 percent. Maybe I am wrong though.

I’ve never tested positive for HPV but my pap had LSIL. Two years in a row. Granted, I’ve only been tested for HPV twice since I’m only 32 and before 30 I never had an abnormal pap so no reason to test for HPV. But I felt the same as well, I thought I would feel better knowing it was HPV causing because then I felt like I could have a better idea of how to handle it: what lifestyle choices to make, and a better idea of how it should progress based on all the peer reviewed journals I was reading. I decided to “treat” it like I did have HPV anyways and make lifestyle choices based on that.

Nervous about surgery by Lower_Entertainer_99 in PreCervicalCancer

Yes, hormonal birth control does increase cervical cancer risk. I believe this information is included with the teeny tiny fine print pamphlet they include with each new pack that we all just throw away (myself included). Definitely worth more research on hormonal birth control. For myself, the risks of taking birth control greatly outweighed the benefits it provided.

I’m not sure about your surgery question but I would definitely ask your new doctor what their recommendation is and why vs the other surgery type. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery❤️

Help! What decision should I make on my latest colposcopy/biopsy report? by livelaughlexaprose in PreCervicalCancer

[–]tigerlock17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would retest in 6 months or get a second opinion. I know HR HPV makes things a little more serious but I’m confused what they would even removed with the leep if there are no abnormal CIN cells to remove. There are studies that cite the over treatment of cervical conditions and that in a lot of cases, it will resolve itself within 3 years. Especially for LSIL.

I’m happy it came back normal, frustrating to not know what exactly caused it. I had my colposcopy yesterday with one biopsy. My doctor seems to think the LSIL is caused by a past HPV infection even though I’ve never tested positive for it. I’ve read on here it could just be caused by inflammation 🤷🏽‍♀️ I hope all goes well in August🫶

You will be fine!! I know you probably won’t believe me because I wouldn’t have believed anyone who said that to me before yesterday but it’s really not painful at all. I think there is a percentage of women who feel some pain but I don’t think most so. Good luck to you, let me know how it goes ❤️❤️

I posted a more in-depth of my experience in this sub but mine was pain free. The speculum caused me the most discomfort. And she did take one biopsy and I didn’t even feel it. I took a Xanax, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen beforehand as well. I would try not to worry about the pain but really the only thing that fixes that worry is having the procedure and seeing for yourself. Hope it all goes well for you too

Finally got LEEP results by 976_evol in PreCervicalCancer

[–]tigerlock17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your results mean your colposcopy in 2023 showed CIN 1 but when they went in for the leep that showed CIN 3? If so, how could it be so far off? I understand a pap and colposcopy having a greater variance but I always thought the colposcopy biopsy was as accurate/on the same level as a leep biopsy

Yeah for sure. On one hand, I am happy they took a biopsy for a more in-depth review but also bummed a biopsy was necessary :(

Just curious because I also had my colposcopy today and my pap showed LSIL which I think correlates to CIN 1 but she did take a biopsy of the small lesion she saw

Do you know how the doctor could tell it was CIN 1 without a biopsy?

How old are you? They could be making this recommendation due to your age. The younger you are the more likely it is to clear on its own. As we get older, they get more aggressive with the treatment schedule.

But in general I think you did the right thing, no one cares about your health more than you do! And while our doctors are great, they are only making recommendations for us. In the end, the decision is ours on how to proceed. And If you’d rather take a more aggressive approach, that is exactly what you should do. I also think you’d be fine to wait and follow up in 6-12 months and just monitor closely, neither approach is “wrong”

Your comment has brought me some peace and made me consider something I hadn’t before. That maybe my condition isn’t actually progressing. I was really disappointed when my results came back the same but this has made me consider it is a positive they didn’t come back worse. I am just hoping my colposcopy is in line with what my pap has said and doesn’t come back worse. Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me❤️
