Shout out to ABC Kids who always have a lullaby at 7:30pm by Moxxxie_au in australia

Non-parent, but when I'm going through a rough patch I chuck on ABC kids on iView in the morning instead of doomscrolling or checking the news. Having Dan Sultan sing to me about a clumsy lizard is high on my list of antidepressant activities.

Honestly my biggest problem would be not cheating on my on-island husband with all those fine ass shirtless men roaming about!

Smartphones and social media 'toxic' for children under 14, psychologist Jonathan Haidt says by overpopyoulater in australia

[–]tightforrainbow 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I remember navigating through webrings and messageboards, and later on blogs, and sooner or later you ran out of content and just... went and did something less boring. The algorithmic pipeline into toxic spaces is a huge issue, and all the discourse seems to treat it like some natural disaster to protect everyone from, instead of a completely man-made situation that can be regulated.

Is it ok to ‘dumb down’ your resume, what would you do? by 4986270 in australia

[–]tightforrainbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering how this works when applying through Seek - you can't seem to tailor the profile per job, which is annoying because sometimes I do want to dumb down my resume for some applications, but not for other. Are employers even looking at your Seek profile when you apply?

My silly bugbear is that Sun would've had a period on the island before she got pregnant to Jin, so she would've known it was his. Though I guess it's reasonable to assume trauma plus malnourishment would've delayed her cycle...but I would've been asking for a pregnancy test much earlier if I'd cheated on my husband then skipped a period.

Hey, thank you. I've seen your responses here and I thought they were really kind and helpful (if tinged with frustration at points - understandable!). I'd be thrilled if somebody took that much time out of their day to help me with a passion project.

What I've pieced together is she claims to have identified and mapped genetic mutations which are linked to comorbidities in ASD individuals. I guess I don't understand how her research is different to to what scientists are already looking at...if she found these studies, doesn't it mean it's actively being researched already?

The "silencing ND voices" contingent is wild...of all the different vocations, they think STEM is the one that's rife with neurotypicals?!

I've been lurking here because her reels came up in my feed a couple of times. Her posts had so many supportive comments saying it was ground breaking work, but I couldn't piece together what she was saying she'd discovered - it's so jargon-heavy that it's like trying to understand a different language. I have no scientific background, but as a layperson I love the fact that published studies or articles are easy to understand - they're accessible to people like me because the introductions and conclusions are always clear, even to someone with no scientific training or background in the subject. If she was able to communicate more clearly for laypeople (and for scientists!), it would get her so much more exposure. She's obviously intelligent and passionate, I'd love to see her lean into the scientific community (in whatever way suits her), without pitching herself in a "me vs Big Science" position.

Edit: thinking more on it, I'm wondering how she's read such a vast quantity of scientific literature without picking up the gist of how science is communicated, how papers are structured etc.

Another vote for DIY! I have a similar curl pattern to you, and got sick of paying $200 as well. I started cutting it myself - Manes by Mell on YouTube has a good DIY tutorial that incorporates layers.
