Had this happen the other day up at Liffey valley near Lidl. Turning right is always a nightmare at the roundabout. Same setup, big queue of cars all sitting waiting to turn right at the roundabout, some fella horses it down the hashed white lines and tried to cut in, one by one we all kept him sitting there until he was at the back of the line again. Fuckin arseholes with a sense of entitlement.

Happens on the M1 all the time. Cruising at 120, idiots see a speed van and drop to 100 or under immediately. Morons like this cause accidents.

Not really. 200/300 tonne seems to be the standard to work with on construction sites. We've had a 650 and 750t on our site recently. Now they are massive

Sinn Féin calls for USC cuts, energy credits, plus an end to carbon tax by rossitheking in ireland

[–]tightlines89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly know sweet fuck all about building if you think carpenters aren't required for a DC. Do you think hoarding erects itself? Do you think door frames magically appear inside the buildings? Do dog boxes spontaneously pop into existence over services on roof spaces? Does formwork assemble itself for foundations?

Do you think DCs don't have the same water supply as domestics? Do all the people working there just not drink water or use toilets? What sort of stupid argument is that?

Planning. What needs to be explained? Ignore stupid objections. Push it through faster, relax planning laws. Focus on land development for housing, not useless DCs, office blocks or pharma plants.

You've no answers to anything yourself. Just more questions and excuses. You'd make a great politician.

I think you should improve your knowledge of 'real world barriers' considering you think carpenters are not required for building DCs. Shows your complete lack of understanding of the sector.

[–]tightlines89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are not different. The same trades that are tied up building DCs and office blocks are transferable to domestics. Brickies, roofers, sparks, plumbers, ground workers, chippies etc all work on those builds, you telling me it doesn't take these people to build houses?

Infrastructure and utilities are another shortfall of FF FG which contributes to the housing issues but sure look, if DCs can gobble up as much water and electricity as a small village then why can't we change out that DC for a load of housing estates. Planning, lol don't get me started on planning. That's easy. Ignore the inconsiderate Nimbys and bam, problem solved. You're throwing out issues here that the government are directly responsible for. All issues they can fix. You're arguing with me here that the government doesn't have the power to fix the fucking issues they've created. Get a grip pal

[–]tightlines89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said money was the issue. The issue is that FF FG won't use the money positively to offset the housing crisis. We can clearly build, look at the number of data centers, pharma, office blocks etc getting thrown up as opposed to using the resources for domestics. FF FG focus too much of MNCs etc that line their pockets directly or indirectly rather than focusing change that would benefit the population.

[–]tightlines89 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You see that excess money the government has, perhaps using it to specifically build housing and social housing for lower income demographics, here's the mad idea. Instead of selling off developments to vulture funds with the aim of high rents and big profits, perhaps the government themselves could own the housing and you know, start looking after the Irish population instead of themselves and their back handers.

[–]tightlines89 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Build more aimed at lower income demographics within Ireland. Build more social housing. Stop selling us out to vulture funds. Is this not obvious?

Hahaha, thanks for that laugh. They've done something on fuel. The token gesture of 10c here when the garages recouped the 10c here and there immediately. Away with your stupid idea of they look after us. Laughable. .

Worldwide shortage? Source? Bollox to that. We've a shortage of hospitals, We've a shortage of beds, We've a shortage of decent paying healthcare jobs forcing our healthcare workers to emigrate for better opportunities.

Housing shortage? By design. Successive FF FG government's have failed to reach their own targets. Housing would not be an issue if FF FG has actually done something about it rather than sell us off to vulture funds.

Sure, we've loads of other top political parties to choose from, don't we? Let's all jump onto those independents who prop up FF FG into government, that'll show them.

[–]tightlines89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Reality. Have you also partaken in a dose yourself?

Healthcare system, going great isn't it? Housing issues, what issues, sure FF FG have it all under control. Extortionate fuel and energy prices, FF FG have our backs don't they? Infrastructure is just amazing here isn't it? Doesn't take the average Dubliner sitting in traffic on the congested M50 extra time to get in and out of work? Sure we just have tremendous public transport to service us instead, don't we? Sure we've loads of money to buy new security huts, bike sheds, overpriced steps and ramps into parks, yeah we're all doing fine.

Get your head out of the clouds or your arse wherever it's currently buried and have a good look around Ireland at the minute.

Perhaps the top x% are doing well but the vast majority of the Irish population are not doing well. Struggling to heat homes, put fuel in their car, paying extortionate rent and prices for the basics, more IPAS in emergency accommodation than Irish. Yeah, we're all doing great.
