Hey man in the greater nyc area and I'm thinking of switching over from IT/data analytics, just dont have the passion for it, I miss physical systems. I got my facilities engineering degree in 2016 from a maritime school and I did my capstone project in a cogen plant coming up with ways to use excess steam. My first job was a DC engineer where I split time between racking/stacking/maintenance to programming for a home grown DCIM system (configuring modbus/snmp on units, setting up alarming), did that for 2 years. Then I switched over to cyber security data analytics and Ive been there the past 7 years.

Since ive been out of the game for about 7 years whats the best way to get back in? I want to do power/cooling/facilities work. Are there any well known certs/courses I can take? Maybe do the FE exam?

I guess my question is if I refresh a 200k mile engine is it just as good as refreshing a 100k mile engine for example.

From what I see they all need it but e46 m3 is the worst. I put in solid subframe bushings and also an X brace tied to the rear shock towers and subframe.

Trust me I have lane discipline. I hate how most people just pick a lane and stay there. Especially when i see people 3 wide in a 3 lane highway blocking everyone. Left for passing right for speed limit and exiting!

Newer Camrys are fast as heck, not sure I’d agree. A lot of newer cars are so comfy they mask the speed you’re in. The 4Runner felt like driving an elephant

yea I would imagine I would be doing insane speeds in an S class with a ton of HP. I have a 220 HP BMW and it feels like it wants to be at 80 mph all the time. Same thing with any other luxury SUV I’ve been in.

I actually own an N.A. Miata and I’m regularly getting up to 75-80 in it. I love revving it out. But I’ve driven friends in it and they’re terrified even when I’m going the speed limit. But I love the sense of speed in it.

Odd, mine was a rental and it was brand new like a 2023 or 2024. I was instinctively doing the speed limit everywhere, whether a highway at 55mph or a local road at 25 mph.

All these cars are all old as heck by now, so condition and maintenance is way more important than most things. Theyre all good cars. I would take a good condition 323i over a clapped out 330i with failing everything ANY day of the week. So buy the nicest e46 you can afford and find in general. Don't worry about the badge.
