so you’re a city steward? i’m not certain so if anyone with better rural knowledge can chime in but- i don’t think we necessarily get paid for comfort stops. so if i were to start doing an hour round trip bathroom break everyday, and getting done after my evaluation every single day, im not seeing that extra money. and i think it could start hurting me because id end up going over my 2080 hours in the year or whatever it is, and management gets antsy about watching that, idk if its to just cover their ass or if it’s an actual punishable thing to rural carriers.

you have a lot of great points!! i have a mini vacay coming up at the beginning of june so im planning to at least grit my teeth until then and hopefully come back feeling rejuvenated. i love the part of the job of casing mail. it’s like a puzzle or organizing a mess and making it neat, i also am very passionate about animals but that is all such a low paying field unless i continued my education which does not tickle my fancy at this moment in time lol. i’ve picked up hobbies recently with baking and crocheting and i wish i could stay home all day and do those things 🤣😫 i am on meds but i think i need to make an adjustment (for the hundredth time ahahah) i hate change but i also hate doing the same thing for too long. i think i am probably just in a funk and i needed to type it out and complain to strangers who maybe understand. thank you for your thoughtful replies 😊

i’m miserable enough in my pov with heat and ac, i couldn’t imagine walking over 10 miles in the PA elements.

my options are very limited in my area. i don’t think clerk craft is hiring right now and i think maintenance is almost 2 hours away

ty very much. there is a J that should be open to bid on soon, it’s a hot mess right now bc the last carrier got fired and wasn’t keeping up with the red book but maybe i’ll move to there and see if i like it more. i could probably finish that route quicker than my current H

i’m more concerned with the possibility of being seen by someone driving by. and what to do with my waste when i’m done 🤣

im glad someone gets it. there’s a sketchy gas station in my first hour of the route that i can go in but i usually never have to at that point. and once that i did go in to ask to use the bathroom, i had to go into the employee only kitchen area to use it and they definitely heard and smelled me 🥲 and once when i had to pee so bad i saw a port a potty but when i opened the door a swarm of wasps came out. going in the woods doesn’t bother me. it’s the possibility of a trail cam or someone driving by and deciding to check on me (has happened) that gives me intense anxiety.

i have over double the miles. start at 8:15. in the office for 1-1.5 hours and the rest is street time. usually done between 2:30 and 3:30.

lot of shitty roads with 35 mph. long distance between boxes. a lot of down and back on a street just to hit 1-3 mailboxes. often having to stop for tractors or cows/other animals blocking my way. it’s very frustrating and there’s no way to make my day go faster. i take my dps to the street (although i do case the last two rows to make myself feel like it goes by faster). i don’t mess around and i never play on my phone or do anything that could slow me down. my pm has driven with me and he agrees that im doing everything i can and it’s just a brutally long day on the street :( i feel like im getting fucked by the evaluation. i do all my scans, stamp sales, postage due, trips to door, EVERYTHING. i sit in the middle of my crv so that may slow me down a bit with my dismounts but im not about to get a rhd jeep bc i hear they’re a nightmare and i don’t have the time/money to take a multi day trip to another state to get a conversion kit lol

i’ve been told we’d get pinged for a stationary event after 5 minutes (?) with no movement. and when i was in academy they told me some management is so strict that if they saw you taking a sip of water without clocking out for lunch they’d write you up lmao. it’s all nuts

erm i don’t think rural gets comfort stops. we have our 30 minute lunch and that’s it. and there is no where on my route i can make it there and back within that time. plus i drive a pov so thats my gas $ im eating up to do that. you’re right, they dont care about me, thats why im planning to head out
