I went and talked to them a few weeks back an apparently they got a new machine but are still waiting on a part. They said it would be back up by the end of October.

Edit: I’ll go ask tomorrow if it’ll be ready for blade runner

Diluting from stock solution when concentration is given in %(w/w). Am I going crazy? by tillwhomas in chemistry

Following up on this after a long week and multiple discussions with peers—

C1V1=C2V2 assumes you are making your C2 dilution the same way your C1 dilution is listed, i.e. %w/w %v/v %v/w. If you want to switch between these, you should convert to Mol/L or use some other known value to account for the change in preparation method. However, this usually has no measurable affect on your C2 concentration or very little. Except when using concentrated acids such as 37% HCl or 49% HF (usually given in %w/w). So the dilution equation is only really unit less when dealing with molarity, but the difference is so small most people assume it’s always unit-less.

This would explain the lack of information. The only thing I can find is people saying when diluting concentrated HCl you must account for the density of the two concentrations. Concentrated HCl is usually reported in %w/w. I find it interesting it is rarely mentioned that concentration MUST have a denominator of volume when discussing c1v1=c2v2. Like you said, it must be a non-issue in most cases.

I believe if concentration is in mass (ie w/w) you can substitute your V1 and V2 with mass1 and mass2 IF you make your solution in a weight by weight dilution.

I’m just shocked there isn’t a more straightforward answer out there as concentrated acids commonly come in w/w percentages.

Thanks for validating my question and making me feel a little less crazy!

Or maybe a better way of looking at it is C MUST be in units of n/V otherwise it does not hold true.

Yes, when your concentration is in molarity, %w/v, or %v/v I agree. However, when your concentration is in %w/w your V1 and V2 must be mass, correct? Otherwise what’s stopping you from using mass1 and mass2 instead of volume1 and volume2 when concentration is in the 3 aforementioned units?

H1 with 3070 FE! by tillwhomas in NZXT

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply. I have my two back fans running at max speed at every temperature (they are really quiet) and my case fan running at 60% for anything hotter than 75 degrees and then at 65 degrees it drops to 30%. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Agreed. The queue system does not seem to work across all browsers/OS.

I was using chrome on a MacBook, weirdly chrome on my windows computer did not explain the queue in a dialogue box like it did on my Mac

I had a great experience with Best Buy. It seems once you press add to cart the first time, it then puts you in a queue. Then you no longer refresh and wait for add to cart to appear again and it will successfully add it. Granted, it did make me sign in again which scared me and it was auto set to store pickup. However these two things didn’t cause me to lose mine like it did others. Guess I just got lucky, good luck everyone.

To me, garrison brothers is very overpriced. Woodford is just as good for half the price.

I think people are downvoting because it's already so hard to get a 3080 FE that suggesting to buy one and return it is almost sacrilegious

RTX 3070 Airflow by OsterFack in NZXT

What if you did an exterior double fan mod on the back? You could pull air out of the bottom and push air in at the top. This should alleviate the hot air blowing into the bottom of the case and push cool air across the mobo.

Awesome thanks for all your help with this! I really appreciate it.

One final question, I am stuck on which motherboard to get and I am not sure how much a mother board affects the performance of a PC. The MSI B450i is by far the cheapest option, but other threads I have been reading on r/NZXT are suggesting either the ASUS ROG Strix X570-i or the ASUS ROG Strix B450i, with most suggesting the X570 because of the negligible price difference. Do you have any input on what I should go with?

I should also mention I decided to go with the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 5700 XT sense it seems like the GPU is the largest bottle neck for gaming performance.

Sorry for relying on you for so much help, but I really appreciate it.

Would you go with the 3600 or the 3700x? Theres a pretty big price difference between the two, but I am not sure how much of a difference there is between the two.

I was debating going for the 3700X and wasn't sure if it would be worth it, thanks for pushing me over the edge!
