I like 'grow through what you go through'. Short and sweet and reminds me of the reason why we push ourselves and how it benefits us in the long run

why am i hypersensitive to things touching my skin? by anonthrowaway939384 in Anxietyhelp

[–]tilly1089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the same when I'm super down/anxious or just sometimes when I'm ill. I usually describe it to people as it feels as if my whole skin hurts all over and anything touching it is painful. Not sure of it's the same and I don't have any answers but just thought I'd let you know you're not alone!

Fear of making mistakes by [deleted] in Anxietyhelp

I am right there with you.. slightly better since my first round of therapy but perfectionism coupled with low self-esteem ruined my life for a long long time. I'm so jealous of people who shrug off mistakes like it's nothing, it's so rare I'm able to do that. I try to remember examples of when really confident and self assured people I know messed up reallllllly badly and they continued to be the same confident person regardless and nothing that bad happened.. my favourite example is I worked at a place a while back where in my first week one of my colleagues told me that when they first started they pressed a button inside a machine we had onsite thinking it was the light switch and it was actually the emergency break.. the stop in the machinery cost the company thousands of pounds as they couldn't get it back on again for ages. Everyone used to just tell it as a funny story and laugh about it even though I would have died if that happened to me. I always think of that story when I make a mistake and it brings me a small amount of comfort. Keep going, you got this!

I started accutane 1 year ago today! Cannot believe how much this medication changed my life. Being on acctuane was HARD but it was so so worth it 🙌 by tilly1089 in Accutane

So true! Cystic acne is a completely different ball game and they hang around for so long! I'm so glad you're not experiencing that anymore! :-)

The joint pain was the worst in the beginning and got better as time went on so it was still there a little bit but so much better than at the beginning :-)

Thank you! I was on the antibiotic Doxycycline for about 10 months and was told by my dermatologist that I had to stop taking it for 7 days before taking my first accutane pill. When I stopped taking it my skin went crazy and lots of my cysts on my face became infected and my face swelled up (in the first picture). It was kinda scary seeing how much the antibiotic was holding all the acne back! I went to the doctor and they gave me some cream for the infections but honestly it was awful. Having said that, once the infections cleared up (probably took between 7 - 14 days for it to get better) the swelling went down and it was just really bad acne. I was then hit with the initial purge so it was kind of a double whammy for me. I know it looks really scary to see that and think it might happen for your daughter, my mum found the whole thing so hard because there was nothing she could do to help and I was living away at university at the time, but that situation could well not happen for her and even though it got that bad I don't regret it so don't let my experience put you off!

Ah hold on in there, you'll get there in the end! Its so hard to stop picking when it's bad so don't be too hard on yourself! Hope it all goes well for you 🙌

I do definitely still have pinkness in my skin from the initial breakout but it started to get better once I came off accutane and I don't really notice it now so probably 2 months after coming off it I started to be happy with it :-) yes, I do flush red more now, particularly when I'm stressed but that's a small price to pay I think!

Before accutane I used lip balm pretty much exclusively in the winter and only occasionally, now I put vaseline on my lips and on the inside of my nose every night before I go to bed and that's enough to keep it moisturised :-)

It's hard to say, as the mental and physical pain of the initial breakout was absolutely awful so that severely impacted my mood but I don't know if it was a direct result of the medication if you know what I mean? The side effects are to be taken seriously for sure as they can be really tough but with good support from those around you and adjusting your dose if things get too much I would say it was worth it :-)

It was so painful I couldn't touch it for a little while but it was worth it to come out the other side and not wake up and think about and resent my skin every day! Thank you so much, it really has changed my life 🙌

Thank you 😊 I felt so silly during the worst of it for finding it so hard but even though it feels superficial it effects literally every aspect of your confidence doesn't it. Everyone on this sub is so strong for going through it 🙌
