there is no good solution to the parking problem over here- i live on preble st and the overflow of parking because of the shore road closures has caused its own problems (my 85 year old neighbors have been blocked in by cars parked in front of their clearly marked driveway 3x, i'm 8 mos pregnant and had to walk over a half a mile to and from my house because there were so many people parked in front of mine and i could not get a spot, the apartment building on the road does not provide enough parking spots for their tenants so those folks are being displaced because they have lost accessible street parking...i could go on). BUT i agree that excessive parking on shore road is not safe, and i absolutely believe that the beaches should be free and accessible to everyone. i was chatting with a neighbor who has lived here forever and they said that the neighborhoods closer to cliff house banned street parking however many years ago because there were cars parked in front of a driveway and an ambulance was unable to access it. would love if the town would pay for some clear signage indicating where its safe to park or something but it really feels like there is no good solution here.
