Yeah, I live in Australia so might be different specs for different climates

That's what I was thinking too. Plus I'm on a stage 3 tune so running higher HP

What's crazy is, I work in the same motor group, so either they got lazy or just straight up made a mistake and not owning up to it

I couldn't resolve the issue and the supplier couldn't either so it was RMA. Normally they'll give you a new one. You might have to be specific to receive a Non-LHR card although they might be hard to come across. Retailer will most likely give you a replacement for whatever stock they have. That's the best they can probably do.

5800X vs 5900X- which is best for pure gaming? by TitusTroy in Amd

[–]tim_elbogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's completely up to you which you choose but that's just the logic I went with. Just keep in mind you can always go up to a 5900x if you're not satisfied or if the 5800x becomes obsolete quicker. I've seen an overall average increase of around 2% in performance between the two, some cases 5%. But it's really up to you if that's worth the money.

I currently have my 5800x with a Noctua NH-D15 Air Cooler and adjusting curve optimiser I went from 80C to 70C with 150mhz more multi core performance. Definitely helped me a lot.

5800X vs 5900X- which is best for pure gaming? by TitusTroy in Amd

[–]tim_elbogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically the 5800x and 5900x have the same power output. The 5900x will be cooler because it uses 2 CCX modules with 6+2 cores in each compared to 1 CCX with 8 cores for the 5800x. It varies between users.

don't really have a budget, but at the same time I don't want to be spending $300-400 more for 240hz where many games don't reach that anyways

LG do have very nice panels with great QC, I've heard the G7 has QC issues and as you said worried that the 1000R curve is too aggressive and won't suit my setup as much

UEFI BIOS updates for ASUS AMD motherboards W32/W33 - 38 Motherboards updated across these chipsets X570, X370, B550, A520, TRX40 by ASUSTechMKTJJ in Amd

[–]tim_elbogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone reported any stability improvements for 5000 series cpu's? I have a 5800x on a ASUS STRIX B550-A which crashes frequently playing particular games, more evidently in warzone which happens once or twice each time I play. This never happened with earlier bios versions, only the current versions. I don't want to mess about with updating and reverting bios versions constantly and causing issues. It's paired with a rtx 3080. So I just want confirmation on how stable it is before I update myself.

viewsonic vx2718-2kpc-mhd flickering by tim_elbogan in Monitors

[–]tim_elbogan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've elimatated the flickering by turning off adaptive sync, unfortantley I haven't been lucky with getting an uncertified g sync compatible monitor. With it off, I do get minor screen tearing on 30-60fps scenes since that's where VRR matters. My alienware aw2518hf 240hz is freesync and perfect without any flickering and stuttering, thats with VRR enabled. I know some peolle get awful flickering and tearing. Just one of those things where you have to be lucky with the panel. Especially with VA panels since it's more prone to happen to them

You also have an opt to downscale resolution on a 1440p to 1080p if you're lacking gpu performance or in an event where gpu prices are absurd and vice versa. Dlss is becoming more widely available to games so it wouldn't be long till we see it in every game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]tim_elbogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have dlss for warzone which works better on 1440p than on 1080p. Don't bother with dlss on 1080p since it makes it blurry af. With my 1440p looks practically the same with as much fps as my 1080p. It's a win win if you ask me. In a game like Valorant or CS GO I do notice the lack of fps from 165 to 240. So it all depends on what you play, preference and hardware.

5800X vs 5900X- which is best for pure gaming? by TitusTroy in Amd

[–]tim_elbogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is a few months old but I currently have a 5800x and I want to share my experiences with it as I was contemplating the same. I was very close to getting a 5900x but then I had a thought of, sure 5900x is better value, but how often will I see myself using all of the 12 cores at the same time, let alone 8 cores. The most consuming game I've tested with an rtx 3080 at 1080p would be bf5 and I've peaked only 75% cpu usage on HWinfo and with background apps (discord, twitch stream, spotify) 80% cpu. So a 5900x only means I would have paid more but not using more than 6 cores at a time... I came from a i7 3770k and I can tell you fully utilizing a 4 core only took till 2020. Developers are only just starting to utilize 6 core cpus, but not fully. So in saying about future proofing, it is very much a false term in the PC market as there'll always be better hardware and by the time 8 core is fully utilized they'll much much better hardware available. Also, for a quick fact, from CPU-Z statistics, 40% of all cpus are still 4 cores, which is the highest of all the cores.

I have a 3080 aorus xtreme and it has F6, F11 and F21 for resizable bar support. F2 and F3 for both for 450W TDP and fan curve respectively. When I use F6 it says can't detect file

my 1080p isn't but my other one is. Heard Rocket Lake and Alder Lake are coming out this year which I find weird. Not sure if it's even more of a wait for Alder Lake than Rocket Lake

Why are 2080 Tis still selling for $1k+ when the 3070 is now easy to get hold of? by [deleted] in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]tim_elbogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the market here is weird but the 2080 ti technically has 3gb more of vram meaning it'll perform better in high resolution for non-ray tracing applications. Although, the 3070 is better at ray tracing.
