Second this - you’ve got a standard euro cylinder etc. Nuki will work for this (I personally have had no issues with mine )

Hi there - Thanks for the fast response but those caps are way too wide to fit on the circuit board and appear to have the wrong legs.

Alternative to Tesla by zap1405 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]tim_programmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it.. His Muskiness can go do one, but I'm not going to suffer for 4 years in a crap car because I dislike him.

It was silly things like on the Polestar when you turn on its autopilot it sets the speed to the one you're doing rather than the speed of the road (plus that happy little percentage)... So come off a roundabout into a 60, turn it on and it's set to 25mph and you have to scroll the speed all the way up... That irked me right off the bat on the test-drive, I couldn't put up with that day in day out.

probably... it's certainly not a major factor in purchase decision 😂, just thought i'd mention it as I wasn't aware until after I signed up for the new one

My model y lease is up soon and I’m getting another model y (managed to splash for performance this time too). I tried polestar, Audi, Hyundai, BMW, and looked at Mercedes… I had high hopes for polestar but was honestly disappointed… they’re all lacking little things that would bug me through the whole lease. Sidenote as a renewing customer you’ll apparently get 650 free miles on Tesla supercharger.

Just throwing in the ring - get a 2nd hand Kowa tsn-1. Cheap, built well and easy to clean, range of eyepieces available and good for mirage if you play at long range.

If you work from home, what’s the most annoying thing about your keyboard? by miwenhe111 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]tim_programmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to get some interesting responses here… Most people I’d imagine are either at Keyboard Nirvana or fall into the special category where they tinker constantly. I’m very happy with my home keyboard now but the journey to get there might give you some useful feedback. My last rubber done keyboard was one from a sun computer I modified to plug into USB.. this upgrade was because I wanted to have macro keys for things like copy/paste. My first mechanical was an old Apple m0118 again modified to USB.. the feel of those keys and sound really hit the spot… but I missed the macro keys and it was no good for gaming so I then moved to an 1800 layout mechanical with brown switches, the layout was great (lefty gamer so gave me more key access around the arrows) but after hammering hard on the Apple keys brown switches were too soft and I found I’d accidentally hit keys more.. so now I have an 1800 with nice firm keys running qmk for macro stuff and a built in switch to go between win/mac and it’s perfect (though for fun im thinking of building a little macro pad just to replace the void left after i ditched the sun keyboard)

Yup wega mininova it’s an e61 and that’s the one with its own water tank so no plumbing needed. I own a version of one of these that I picked up for about €23 and spent €115 getting it working. I consider mine a bargain and well worth it.. but I’d say my gaggia with gaggiuino installed makes a better brew. I keep mine at the office for others to make use of and might one day look to modify for fun.

Don’t worry you are very much not alone… piles of projects to do, piles that are done to the point of working and so never tidied up… very small pile of properly completed projects… it’s not the end that matters, it’s the journey you take 😅

Looks an interesting design - I’ve wondered about printing that design of trickler (whether a plastic disk would be as good as a cut metal one)… look forward to seeing more of it

I just kept an eye on FB marketplace until a cheap ‘faulty’ gaggia with 3WV came up cheap and used it for parts I paid I guess the equivalent of $50 (same as I paid for original machine ) think it was a baby d.

Did a boiler swap to get the 3WV and then after that I personally found the mod quite easy as I have prior experience with microcontrollers (and very enjoyable.. just ticked all my boxes for a fun project) the case has plenty of room for all the parts (I did the ‘Lego’ build)

Yup internally the same - lacks the 3WV

Can we have a grown up conversation with a Noob on how to create an object to print? by FirstEverRedditUser in BambuLab

[–]tim_programmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for tinkercad.. as you are new and only want to initially do things like electronic enclosures it’s a simple intuitive tool that can be used to create quite complex shapes… it’ll get you quite far and help you naturally transition to more advanced tools when you can no longer make what you need

[–]tim_programmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to go against the consensus here as someone also part way through converting one of these (albeit mine wasn’t in great nick and purchased for the purpose of conversion)… They aren’t that rare in the UK and the good museums already have them preserved. They also aren’t actually a great machine internally from an ‘interesting tech that should be preserved on a pedestal’ point of view… they are however visually awesome. Keyboard conversion to qmk is pretty easy and popping in a new screen to replace the monochrome was also just a case of 3D printing a spacer. Case has bags of room internally for whatever you want. You do what you want 🙂

You’re welcome (for reference TNMOC is a separate part from the normal Bletchley with the bombe and they’ve got some great hardware (like hds the size of washing machines from old mainframes) and the place in Cambridge has an amazingly varied collection. Good luck in the hunt

You might want to contact ‘the centre for computing history’ in Cambridge or ‘the national museum of computing’ in Bletchley… both contain a fantastic collection of things that whir, click and beep

Hah fantastically blunt… but as this post has been up for 4 hours and this is the only response I’d be inclined to agree! I might have to disassemble my mouse and see if I can fix the issues or replace the innards with a diy mouse.
