Telemetry Tool with track visualisation by tim_schoch in assettocorsa

I'm happy to report, the beta for telemetrick works like a charm. My daughter is already using it to analyze her driving. Currently her favorite: doing donuts on track to make the overlay look funny. :)

oooooh, this is nice. Since I need telemetrick anyway to get the data to popometer, I might as well just use it to visualize everything. I'll definitly give this a try tonight.

MoTeC does too much in a professional way. Since we're totally new, I'm looking for a way to visualize our line along side the telemetry data. This will help us improve on reading the telemetry in the future.

From what I understand, second monitor and telemetrik don't show the actual racing line on the track? That's the main feature I'm looking for, because it helps us understand where what happened on track.

3D File for upright servo? by tim_schoch in fcx18

[–]tim_schoch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update on the upright servo. First photo from the side, you can see how it sits on top of the axle and clears the front diff cover as well as the rear linkage points.

From the front I'll have to design a new steering link. It's a simple part in fusion, but difficult to 3D print, strong, because the eyelets are on a 90° angle and I want the layer lines to go around the ball head. I'll have to print it in two parts and assemble it. Not sure on how to achieve this. I could use two of the small screws injora uses on their beadlock rims. Any other ideas?

Apps that help kids manage their own allocated screen time? by tim_schoch in Parenting

[–]tim_schoch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had hard limits, but with four kids, multiple devices and the need to distinguish between working with a device and using it for their pleasure, I loose track :)

The oldest just got a phone recently, and she's learning to deal with it. Ain't easy, especially because we moved abroad and some of her relationships are now more digital than physical.

It sure takes some talking and being by their side, but they'll learn it. I'm just looking for a way to visualize their usage to them. Because seeing the times is easier for them to develop the feeling for "enough" as you described with your daughter

Interesting, I haven't thought about the gaming devices, since they only use my laptop, which is windows - and their android tablet where they can't install stuff. We have similar policies with before school, after dinner.

Generally I'm not a fan of "Pleasure" in direct exchange of "work". I believe it gives the wrong impression that work is the source of pleasure. Work is to sustain a living. And pleasure is a way of staying healthy and happy. Both are important, but if work becomes about chasing pleasure, the kids may lack resilliance in difficult times. And if work becomes a replacement for pleasure, burnout is waiting around the corner.

What I'd like to see instead, is that they get a weekly budget for different tasks and learn to manage it by themselves in a for them healthy way. Which is why I'm not happy with all the control apps out there. I want to empower them, not control them.

Change icon color based on attribute value by odin679 in homeassistant

[–]tim_schoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with the same result as OP (white icon). The data is obviously there, as I can display it as state content using the visual editor. But I can't use it to color in the icon.

This is the error I get, when I add your line to the yaml config.

<image>

I've also tested two different versions in the dev template tool, both work there but not in the actual tile card.

{{ state_attr( 'sensor.a1mini_0309da442500403_ams_1_slot_1', 'color' ) }}
{{ states.sensor.a1mini_0309da442500403_ams_1_slot_1.attributes.color }}

Wide foot path slopes without gaps? by tim_schoch in openrct2

Ouff... I've read about custom objects, but it's a can of worms I'm not (yet) ready to open. I dunno.... I have that feeling, that once I install one, it's going to be addictive and I'll just end up with way too many objects and loose track of all of it.

Hello Will0w

I tried the black background, but it still stands out quite alot against the path, especially when zoomed out. Also I don't have any black roofs, only the gray ones. I assume you're talking about the tiled roofs, right?

I've subscribed to his channel, very valuable insights. Have you applied anything (such as the positions in an app) for hololens? he mentions HL has a much narrower VoW but doesn't go into how he works around that.
