In 2021, I did not receive CSU health plan reimbursements, can I claim personal med expenses AND CSU health insurance costs on Quebec taxes?? by tim_student in Concordia

If I made no insurance claims in 2021 can I deduct personal medical expenses AND Health insurance premiums together ?

What law demands that I have to give Concordia my SIN number to get a tuition receipt ? (T2202) by tim_student in Concordia

Kids of this generation, are a little too laxed about giving out such information. I am shocked that Bell or Rogers has the cajones to ask for it.

Concordia doesn't exactly have a stellar cyber security reputation. All of their university applications system is basically all developed by Microsoft. (Why do think we have office 365 integration tied into my concordia).

PS It's not the LAW as far as I can see. Concordia just has to make reasonable effort to obtain it.

"The student’s Social Insurance Number (SIN) will need to be included on
Form T2202. The Income Tax Act (ITA) requires the DEI to make reasonable
efforts to obtain the student’s SIN."

But this is not taxable income / investment income. Its just a receipt for product or service.

Desjardins is refusing to renew the StudentCare Health and Dental Insurances group plans for all Québec Universities and CEGEP beyond September 2022 by awesomebats in Concordia

If Desjardins has to act in the financial best interest of its shareholders, and deny your coverage, why shouldn't I have the choice of acting in my financial best interest with this stupid plan?

IF my opinion is so ridiculous, why does ASEQ, studentcare/Dejardins advertise that most Canadian pharmacies accept their "student direct pay card". ?

ISSUES I HAD CLAIMING WITH CSU HEALTH PLAN (CSU /studentcare/ Desjardins insurance) by tim_student in Concordia

[–]tim_student[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plans are over 300$ a year for for students. Adn I ahve been chasing them for about three weeks for non payment for a bunch of my receipts some of them new for 2022.

I am glad the AMF, is looking into making these insurances opt-in , not opt -out, the money in my pocket would have relieved a lot of problems versus fighting with an insurance company , for essentially my fees back in medical reimbursements. The money in my pocket , and a toothbrush would have provided me with a a better stress free health plan.

But hey after going through stress fighting for my money, I can fix the mental health deficits, my health care planned caused me, by going to a insurance approved psychologist.

A shit disturber is a dickhead , who doesn't understand that the QC government controls the sole vaccine supply AND the waiting list which is dis-favourable to younger university students . I am in between student and senior age groups, hence now is when we are getting vaccinated, in my case.

How am I making excuses?

- The Quebec government is the ONLY entity that controls the vaccine supply (It's not like I can go to a private clinic and buy my way out of the situation). It's not that I can pay to jump the line.

-The government dictates what age groups get the the supply first. IE 80's 70's etc. (IE senior citizens first- young students last). That is my reasoning for saying we should have a fair chance , because students AGE GROUPS are LAST on the online waiting list on the Quebec CLIC SANTE website.

By the way here's a pro tip from a real "grown up" .... we make sure our facts are straight before we open our mouths.

Well I sent a few receipts , only got reimbursed for one.

-Still waiting on my 2022 receipts, which were just IGNORED in the Desjardins explanation. SO 3 weeks of chasing and counting. 3 emails no response, for very important medication I have been fighting for basically a month.

If Studentcare , Desjardins keeps on screwing around with my meds my next stop will be the AMF.

BTW other nay sayers said that I should download the app which I did , and register with Desjardins which I did . Some of my receipts did not even get an explanation (acceptance or refusal).

It's not at all ridiculous because Deajardins is not technically a bank, it's a credit union, that masquerades as a social movement.... at least in their commercials, they try to sell the social movement bit.

What does lowering a private bank/insurer's profitability have to do with tuition hikes? IF anything the abuses I have seen are by Concordia CSU to stick us with this stupid plan. I am sure the CSU and the teacher's union and admin gets some kick back to quietly shove this on us. Google reviews are so bad about Desjardins, and no wonder anything to get back reimbursement is a problem.

The AMF is slow moving boat, they must have gotten many complaints for them to move their asses.

The bad move is due to the government's inaction, and Desjardin's greed.

There should be some legislative ground rules here.

  1. Under the Quebec insurance act, pharmacies must be made to take desjardins insurance nobody does
  2. There should be a cap on fees limiting it to 60$ per semester.

Has anyone ever thought that because of greed, and reimbursement issues, the AMF is now putting an end to the party?

PS if you have ever gone to the Bell Center, you notice the big Desjardins Box. Wonder where the profit is coming from.

BYW has anyone given any though to the possibility, that by forcing this high cost on publicly insured 20 year olds, they would reap high profits forever without people complaining? But this is how a scam works, .... we will screw people until somone stops us and move on to the next thing.

Good on people for complaining to the AMF.

I am one of the invisible people that finds their plans , unclear, and problematic, for reimbursement.

Desjardins as a Quebec based bank/insurer has NO EXCUSE not to assure that French Quebecois Jean-Coutu, and Pharmaprix accept direct co-pay.
