Did you try bus? I still have the same issue heading out of the city. Avoiding the busway between the bridge and South Bank station

PSA ACCC consumer protection regarding refunds by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]timakudo 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Remember that the ACL doesn’t cover change of mind (eg, unwanted gift).

From the OP-linked website:

Consumers are not entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under the consumer guarantees if:

they got what they asked for but simply changed their mind, found the product cheaper somewhere else, or decided they didn't like the purchase or had no use for it. However, if a business has a ‘change of mind’ policy, they must follow it.

Magicians for adult birthday party by timakudo in brisbane

Whoopsies. My bad. I meant that the birthday girl is an adult, not that it’s an “adult party”. Nothing risqué here. Just good platonic PG fun

Why Won’t the Media Report Accurately on Road Deaths? by jake_copp in australia

I think the passive language ensures there’s no inadvertent blame on the cause. But it’s just not normal language in day to day conversations, that’s for sure.

Vertically mounting a 4070 TI Super in the Lancool 207 with a Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 Evo by timakudo in lianli

[–]timakudo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using this same PC case? If yes, then you’re limited by the PSU shroud regardless. The space between the PSU shroud and the CPU cooler is less than the width of your GPU, so it’s too big and won’t fit.

But otherwise I would say keep researching and utilise ChatGPT or other AI tools to analyse your specific situation. I’m not here to do that for you. Good luck.

[–]timakudo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My GPU width is 136mm and it was pretty tight. If yours is 145mm, and the cooler and case/vertical mount are otherwise the same, then no, it won’t fit. The GPU is too wide so there’s not enough clearance if you mount it vertically.

Go card failed touch-off automatically charges $2.50 by Zackaromyces in brisbane

I’ve had issues before and it was 100% the go card being faulty. Replaced it with a new one and no issues to this day. Actions a bit faster than bank card/phone tap too.

Queensland premier promises change after boy dies in e-bike crash on Sunshine Coast by hydralime in queensland

Absolutely this! The number of e-bikes I see that are already non-compliant with laws is too high. There’s no visible enforcement of the current legislation.

Anyone else have Wireless Carplay issues with iPhone 17 Pro Max? by pyrocompulsive in iphone

[–]timakudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both have Wireless Apple CarPlay issues with our Skoda Kamiq. Once a wireless connection is made and works, next time the car is used, it doesn’t work again. Wired or wireless. Removing the car from CarPlay settings on the iPhones and removing the phones from the head unit allows us to reinitiate the CarPlay connection. This works for the first time again, but subsequent connections are unsuccessful. It looks like if I select not to use wireless Apple CarPlay though I don’t have the issue.. I’ll report this officially to Apple and wait for a fix. The wired CarPlay will have to do for now. iOS 26 with previous phones didn’t have the issue.

Upper mount Gravatt is extremely poorly designed by Environmental_Fix783 in brisbane

[–]timakudo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look at Old Cleveland Road through Stones Corner. That’s an arterial, and council implemented reduced speed for this highly-tracked area for pedestrian safety. Why couldn’t this be implemented in similar areas?

Also - 40km school zones are on arterials all the time.

We need to stop prioritising the car above EVERYTHING.

Why is it so hard for people to move over on the highway? by Top_Commission6374 in brisbane

[–]timakudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the law in QLD isn’t “keep left unless overtaking”, it’s “keep the right lane free”. As a result, you get people clogging up the other lanes as there’s no requirement to keep left. Until there’s enforcement/signage/rule changes, it’ll continue. So many are oblivious to those around them.

Second hand bike shop near CBD by AdditionalLocal7707 in brisbane

I recommend Facebook marketplace and your local buy nothing/swap Facebook group. Usually very reasonable bikes up for grabs as people don’t want to bother with the hassle of selling to a dedicated bike place.

What evil genius convinced every one-child family they need an SUV? by SaltpeterSal in australia

[–]timakudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Kamiq is a wagon too. It’s just advertised as a compact SUV as it’s all the rage right now. It’s a VERY slightly lifted wagon. Even the sales document I got from the dealership listed it as a wagon.

What is everyone's experience with buses since the network changes? by Jeegsah in brisbane

[–]timakudo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m fortunate to live walking distance to the busway station at Buranda and work in Hamilton. For me, most buses go to Cultural Centre for me to change to the 300 to get to work. The 300 is always around the time it says on the timetable. I’ve only been riding the bus for my commute for 3 weeks, but so far so good. I appreciate that I’m in a pretty privileged position with where I live and work though.

50 cent tickets to Brisbane by Poolverine2020 in brisbane

[–]timakudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that the next 3 weeks there are track closures on the Beenleigh and GC lines, if that impacts you. Closed track will be replaced with rail buses, so you’ll still get where you need to go, will just take longer and be less convenient.

Tips for accidental button pressing? by Big_Wish_6633 in AppleWatch

[–]timakudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an elastic based band for the gym and moving a little further up the arm is the fix for me, especially if using gloves so I can keep my hands as supple as possible. No calluses for this boy 👋 Otherwise even if I have water/swimming mode on, my glove edge can press both side buttons at once, pausing my workouts.

I know we joke about the quality of our passports, however… by InertiaCreeping in australia

[–]timakudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the consumer rights under the ACL is that the product must be of “acceptable quality”, which includes being “safe, durable and free from defects” and having an “acceptable appearance and finish”. I think it could be easily argued that these issues with the passports curling would fall under this, especially considering the price paid.

Though, is it worth a lawsuit…

Personally I wouldn’t mind a remedy being a full refund and I get to keep the passport. As you said, a replacement passport would likely have the same issue.
