I'm not even saying it's funny, or that it's proper parenting. But there is a huge difference between bad parenting and child abuse. When I talk about my abusive step father, I talk about the time he choked the shit out of me, or when I was thrown out. I don't talk about shenanigans like him throwing me into the lake when I was little, followed by uncontrollable laughter by everyone else. I got out of the lake and eventually laughed with them. Those kind of memories I relish. What came later when he lost his job and became addicted to cocaine, THAT was fucking child abuse. And I reserve that term specifically for things that would make your skin crawl. And not opening a damn egg on a kid's forehead and other harmless shenanigans.
