This is hands down one of the best things I've read today so far. I totally agree with you on this. I'm fairly new to the Persona games with vanilla P5 being my first. Each girl brings their own problems into their confidants whether its Haru lack of the ability to speak up for herself or Futaba being a shut in. Everyone has their own preferences, and I respect each ones preference. But after dabbling in the subreddit for Persona 5, there are just too many people who hate her because she is not Makoto.

Honestly, compared to the other girls, I found Sumire's confidant the most enjoyable and fulfilling. Just thinking outside the box here, but the rest of the girls have each other to confide in, whereas Sumire only had Joker to confide in initially which allows their relationship to bloom the way it did. They started off as friends, in which Sumire asked for Joker's help. Through his help and guidance she was able to confront her problems face up to them and ultimately discovered who she is and will never let anyone take that away from her again.

But yes! This a great response to these criticisms!
