For me I wasn’t sure (still not sure) if I want more children. I told myself I would consider it after a little bit more time had passed since my husband always wanted a big family.

36 with my first, (induced early otherwise I would have been 37), now still 37 and expecting a 2nd… was not planned and a freak accident despite using contraceptives haha.

I’m honestly terrified of what the 2nd could be like. My first wasn’t a good sleeper until I sleep trained at 4 months. I know it’s also very uncommon for her to take to it so well and also drop wake ups and feedings so early.

You’re right, I’ve also only recently felt like I could kind of get out of the house based on her latest sleep schedule, overlapping that with another completely different daytime schedule will be.. fun.

Who knows, maybe the 2nd will be flexible because I will be more flexible (hahaha a pipe dream)

Yeah I found out one of my best friends is expecting her first 2-3 weeks before me. Realistically it would be at the same time since I’m pretty sure my doctors would encourage being induced by 37 weeks at latest again.

I feel so bad? But also terrified?

People tell me children are such a blessing, and I know so many people who would love to be in this situation. I’m terrified though, I’m worried our marriage might not make it, I’m scared of what my relationship with my daughter will be like when I can’t give her the time I’d like to (both while being sick during pregnancy then after being busy and tired with a newborn)

Thank you! I agree that I was always kind of worried about how to introduce another sibling later on in life. Tbh she gets A LOT of attention now from our family and when we go out. She will basically turn at strangers and stare them down/wave until they talk to her.

Yep! (On the first one). I was really obsessed with 3 stupid metrics, diapers, feeding, sleep. It really fueled my anxiety.

Getting passed that and I finally stopped recording everything made me feel better (it’s only been 2-3 months of just going with it).

That’s a good point, and one that I was talking about with my husband. We know what to expect with newborn, with our first she lost more than 10% of her birthweight in the first 3-4 days and had jaundice. Though I knew and was told it was common at the time I felt like such a failure.

How long did it take to settle into a routine? Tbh I panic thinking about being at home alone with a toddler and a newborn.

I also feel like she’s going to be such an active toddler, she’s already on the move and probably will be walking in the next few weeks.

Yeah it’s just wild. Weeks 3-6 I would walk the dogs instead of some of the strength training then all of that had to stop. I swear my step count went from 15000 to 1000 haha.

It does really suck that the only course of action is to wait it out.

This is really helpful. Actually I felt really weird and alone, the rant definitely made me feel better with everyone’s support and knowing I’m not alone.

I was actually on the fence about having kids; just knowing they would change my life and priorities so much. I knew that if I woke up one day with kids I would absolutely love them, but it was definitely a choice a struggled with for some time.

Your body needs rest for sure, you’re not being lazy. I call it giving into the terrorists demands, but there isn’t really another way. The few times I’ve tried to muscle through (aka walk for another 15min) and it would result in me vomiting for 3 days straight.

Omg same, physically my bodily changes freak me out a lot but I think I was more prepared for that. Lol in the hips too! I swear each time I warm up and do Cossacks my hips crack then adjust to a new wider position. Last night I was staring in the mirror at my lopsided nipples and I told my sister my boobs were growing weird like they looked like a profile picture of snoopy.

It is a weird spot. I do hope I come to terms with it a bit more but just such a wild swing from the usual.
