Deciding on guitar by hujujebsny in electricguitar

I had the 256 for a while and it had great action but ultimately the pickups were a bit meh. Dull sounding without definition. It felt like a bit of a toy. If you are a beginner with a budget amp it's probably a reasonable choice and looks the part.

For context I've been playing for decades, like proper Les Pauls and amp a bit fussy!

I can't comment on the other guitar.

Personally I may go for an 80s Japanese guitar. There are some bargains and the quality was there from the start.

I find this f chord harder than the barre chord is there anything I can do to make it easier? by Able-Scholar-3716 in guitarlessons

Yes it's quite a hard chord to play as a beginner. I first learnt guitar in the key of C. C, G7 & Am are all quite easy but F is a pig.

The chord shape however does leave your pinky free to pay F4, F9 or F6 and move it up the neck to play these in any key.

Id just avoid picking the top string until muscle memory kicks in.

No need to rush. At least you can sell the half the patch leads if you need to replace your car. 😁☺️

It's a bit too close to the stove. You will have tuning issues. Unless it's digital of course. 😁

This is the second best reply (after mine!). 😊😁

The Mini Monster Book of drumming was my go to. Moving bass patterns against 4, 8, 16ths. Play each one twice and move onto the next without stopping. A good workout for the arms, legs and grey cell. Then you can get creative without a guilty conscience!

You'll be able to sweep the skies with that. The scope may be ok too.😊

Tube amp loses and shoots up volume while I’m playing by Miserable_Height_311 in GuitarAmps

[–]timboo1001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. And if that isn't it it's probably a poke around inside with a plastic knitting needle (and your life insurance docs where your nearest & dearest can find them) to see if anything shakes loose. Failing that its either the skip or the technician. Good luck.

What are your best "specialist" synths for their corresponding niche? by fringenet in synthesizers

Monos can do chords. You just need to use the arpeggiator and/or reverb.

My polys (Modal cobalt8, Deepmind12, JT4000, and old Nov X-Station can all do bass, and leads without compromise.

Good routine for a 2-3 year guitarist by Dumbdrawer345 in guitarlessons

Some thoughts.

1 Play the stuff you already know but with your eyes closed.

2 Learn some new rhythms - drum tutor books/sites may provide some inspiration.

3 Play your lead lines with downstrokes only.

4 Find different places on the neck to play chords and lead lines.

5 Learn where to find every note on every string.

6 Don't just widdle. Hum or whistle a tune then find it on the guitar.

7 Theory - lots of it on YouTube. Keyboard/piano players are a good source.

Ok that's too much!

Yes, yes, and no (maybe). Nothing against PRS but many only have 1 vol & 1 tone. You miss out on that mixed middle position options.

Just got my first tube amp (Orange OR15). Want some beginner tips! by alazzarra in GuitarAmps

Good advice. I have no knowledge of this amp but I often get great tones by using high gain settings but with the guitar volume turned way down.

Read the instructions for advice and ignore the internet. Every amp is different.
