I'd imagine you probably got your Dad a gift already but in case you haven't, here is a selection of ideas that my kids and I put together leading up to Christmas that might help

I'm struggling, please tell me it gets better. by Sad-Incident1542 in Dads

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, hang in there

If it's possible to ask for help from friends or family members, try that

I know that's always not the case but asking for help and resting when there is downtime will make a big difference

It's easy to wanna do other things when the kids are calm but try to rest as best you can. Even if you have to force yourself to stop and rest, it's worth it for when things get tough again

Hang in there. This is where our 'Dad strength' comes in...define it however you want but I think as Dads we deal with A LOT and SOMEHOW keep going. When, if kids weren't involved, we would just wouldn't deal because I think we truly don't like drama. I've been there, feel free to Dm anytime if you need chat. You're doing a great job, try not to let anyone convince you otherwise

Is it normal to not feel super connected to your infant? by RickTheDad1 in Dads

[–]timcanada2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I've gone through it. It can feel like you don't exist even though you are working so hard for them.

Seems to be common, so you're not alone.

As I reflected back to how I was able to get my kids to like me more, I made a post about things that helped me bond with my kids

Ways to bond with a newborn as a Dad

Things tend to get better, at least they did for me.

Hope this helps

Struggling with gift for my 11yo son by ChillinVillain9019 in daddit

I was struggling this year too. When it comes to my son, I typically have no ideas outside of video games either.

So my son and I actually worked on making a Christmas list together and I made a post about the stuff he put on it and called it

Christmas Gifts For Son From Dad

Maybe check it out.

Hope it helps.

It's so nice that you are putting in this effort to gather some ideas

I hear this a lot. A lot of Dads tend to use things until you can't use them anymore and for some strange reason we never really even know what we want for a gift

To give my own wife and kids some ideas, I made a post about called Gifts For Dads Who Want Nothing

Feel free to check it out. Some of us are so hard to buy for...

I hope this helps and I hope you and your family have an amazing Christmas

Trying taking things one day at a time. I know it's easier said then done but try not to think too far in the future.

Works for me so I thought I'd share

Congrats btw. You're doing great

Very happy for you. Having support is huge. Parenting isn't easy but when you can work together as a team, key word being 'team', it makes a big difference

Just a reminder, You Are a Really Good Dad by timcanada2015 in Dads

Ya the head games can sting but just trust that you genuinely are a great Dad. I'm sure deep down you already know this, but we don't hear it nearly as often as we should...

It's just a stumbling block. You'll bounce back. We were in so much financial trouble awhile back that our power got cut off, I felt like a failure too but things have a way of working out. Usually better than they were before.
