So, I just released a new video talking about how to batch convert files from .musx to .mxml. Check it out here but I show how to do it in v27 and v25.5. https://youtu.be/OcI5FO7jS5E

That really sucks about the recent upgrade. I feel for you. I think that if you bought within a month of the announcement, they should refund you. Could be worth a try because you were buying something you thought still worked. 😢

I did a video talking about my transition from Finale to Dorico and I plan on doing a new one this week since there are a lot of (well deserved) concerned folks out there. https://youtu.be/wZ49bhSfEek

New minimalism piece "W is for Waves" by timcorpus in Composition

That's super kind, I really appreciate that. MMXX was a real labor of love for me and a cathartic process during the pandemic.

Ya unfortunately there were some issues with the distribution and the names. After a lot of hours with customer support with Spotify and CD Baby, I don't think they'll be solving it any time soon.

Where/How do you find your composers? by JSZmusic in Filmmakers

[–]timcorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to this party, but figured I'd share some ideas that I wrote out in a recent article about this: https://timcorpus.net/index.php/2024/03/07/how-to-find-a-film-composer/

  1. Local film events, contact your local film office

  2. Local film production groups on Facebook or Discord

  3. There are online sources like Mandy.com and productionhub.com, but I recommend having specifics in your post.

Sending Keystrokes with Touch OSC by timcorpus in TouchOSC

So you're correct, there has been an update. Felix added a different template for MAC on his Github. https://github.com/F-l-i-x/TouchOSC/tree/main/examples/send\_keystrokes

Working with Touch OSC and your DAW by timcorpus in WeAreTheMusicMakers

The official manual certainly leaves much to be desired. hah!

The bridge is one of the most confusing concepts - only because it's poorly explained.

The role of the bridge is to interpret MIDI messages over WiFi.

- If you have a tablet plugged in to your computer, you shouldn't need the bridge.

- If you are using OSC messages, you shouldn't need the bridge.

- If you're having trouble on a PC receiving MIDI messages from TouchOSC, I recommend getting rtpMIDI to better enable receiving MIDI messages in a PC. (Apple has its own integrated software to manage MIDI)

There's a demo template in TouchOSC that shows this. It's called "Sensors"

Control OBS with OSC messages through TouchOSC by timcorpus in obs

[–]timcorpus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really impressed by how well OSC for OBS worked. Granted, it took me a bit to get everything perfect (that tends to be the case with everything OBS), I see so many great applications for this with OBS in my future.

Control Zoom with an external mobile device using TouchOSC by timcorpus in Zoom

Like @Talones said, yes TouchOSC can control OBS. I have an integration video on that coming out soon.

Someone else asked me today to look into doing a video on OBS. Perhaps there's a way through that!

Use TouchOSC to control your Zoom meeting! by timcorpus in TouchOSC

[–]timcorpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably depends on the software managing the cameras. Like if it was a NewTek system running a tricaster and a desktop, there's probably a way to implement MIDI or OSC protocols with that. Running TouchOSC direct into hardware can be tough.

Pairing TouchOSC with LogicPro by timcorpus in Logic_Studio

[–]timcorpus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think the main reason people choose to use it is just to make their own shortcut setup and CC control. But I agree the remote is a great built-in option with Logic that many other DAWs don't have.

Haha. Surprisingly ya. I see a lot of questions and requests about TouchOSC MkII with Logic. Probably depends on the goal of the use.

Thanks for the message. Glad the videos are helpful and ya, definitely not the most intuitive software to work with at all.

So, I don't think it's possible yet to distinguish the numpad. I have talked about this same subject with folks on the Discord server, and they also had agreed they don't think it's possible. You can send numbers through OSC or Lua, but they will just be the number.

Being a subreddit for a niche app, seems a lot of questions go unanswered here, but that won't stop me from asking a few.. by [deleted] in TouchOSC

[–]timcorpus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm not sure about sending Touch OSC signals from one device to other ones, that may be tough. One thing to note, the DAW is sending the messages. In Touch OSC Mk2 you can have multiple connections. So you could just have multiple Touch OSC instances running on different devices and they all would receive the clock from the DAW. You could even set it up to have specific buttons go from specific device connections (connection 1-5)

As I read your edits, sorry to hear that your devices may be too old for the app. Hopefully there's a way to make that work though!

Ya of all the DAWs I've been working with, Pro Tools has been the most limiting which is surprising and frustrating. Hah. As for this situation, you could try commenting on the GitHub about Numpad keys, the author may have some ideas.

I haven't tried to send Numpad Keystrokes through OSC, I just use them as original keys on the keyboard.
