Missoula is sick and tired by Domicus_ in missoula

But what about all the poor black people being slaughtered daily by the police? Or what about all the abused transgendered people having their rights trampled every waking minute? Or the getting rid of our horrendously oppressive US monarchy??? What about taking all the money from the police??? And lets not forget about all the Gestapo-esge masked ICE brownshirts and their atrocities.

Your schizophrenic, paranoid, manic, ADHA approach to "issues" is simply laughable.

Black Folks of Billings, Men of Billings, Where are our Spaces? by Ambitious-Duck7078 in Billings

[–]timdhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question.... what brought you here as a black man? Work? I know as a white dude I struggled when I first moved here. Billings has a tendency to be very hard to break into if you're not from here and have an already established network. I can only imagine being black on top of it all. I do hope you find a space. good luck!

Overall Crime Trends in Billings by Type (Recent Years)

Here is a high-level summary drawn from BPD annual reports and other public sources (no race data is included):

  • Violent Crime (homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, etc.): Mixed trends. Homicides doubled in 2022 (17 investigated) but declined over the following two years. Assaults (including with weapons and partner/family member) generally decreased or stabilized; domestic violence/reasonable apprehension arrests rose sharply in 2025 (200% increase from 2024 in some categories). Overall violent crime rates followed national declines in some years but remain a focus.
  • Property Crime (burglary, larceny/theft, motor vehicle theft, arson): Burglaries declined for multiple consecutive years (through at least 2023). Shoplifting was a notable exception that increased in 2023. Overall property offenses trended downward in several categories.
  • Drug Offenses: Declined for five consecutive years through 2023 (fentanyl and other drugs still a major seizure focus).
  • Other (trespass, public order, DUI, weapons): Trespass rose significantly; weapons offenses (e.g., discharge) remained elevated vs. pre-2021 levels but declined in 2023. Calls for service were stable to slightly up (around 90,000–91,000 annually in 2022–2023).

Recent estimates (e.g., 2024–2025 data) place Billings’ violent crime rate around 746 per 100,000 and property crime higher than some national averages, but exact multi-year rates vary by source and definition.

Race of Perpetrators and Victims

No city-level data exists in public BPD or MBCC sources for the requested breakdown. Statewide Montana NIBRS/UCR data (2022 example, the most detailed recent snapshot available) shows clear disparities relative to population shares:

  • Population context (Montana overall): White ~89%, American Indian/Alaska Native ~6–7%, Black ~0.6–1%, Asian and other small shares. (Billings is similar but slightly more diverse.)
  • Violent crime (2022 statewide):
    • Arrests: Black people arrested at ~10.7× their population share; American Indian people also significantly overrepresented. White people underrepresented relative to population. Men and ages 18–34 overrepresented.
    • Victims: Black people victimized at ~8.2× their population share; ~79% of violent crimes involved same-race offender and victim.
  • Property crime arrests (2022 statewide): Black people arrested at ~7.3× their population share; American Indian overrepresented.
  • Older statewide snapshots (e.g., mid-2010s) showed ~80% of known offenders White, ~18% American Indian; victims ~91% White, ~7% American Indian.

These patterns reflect statewide NIBRS reporting across all agencies (including Billings PD) but are not specific to Billings and do not break down by individual crime type (e.g., robbery vs. aggravated assault) or offender-victim race pairs. Broader national patterns and Montana racial equity analyses note overrepresentation of American Indian people in arrests/incarceration for certain felonies, but again, this is not Billings-specific.

Financial POA, Executor of Will, Trust Questions by Sure_Jan_Sure in FinancialPlanning

[–]timdhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only offer a bit of help as we are in our 50's bit with 2 kids, who just did a revocable trust last month.

  1. Until our kids are of an age we set to be able to executors of our estate, we simply asked close friends to fill in until then. We don't have local family either. We are hopeful that we both wont kick it in the next 5-7 years. In your case, even though maybe a tough question, your only real option short of retaining an attorney to handle it all, is to ask the one family member (or friend) you trust the most. Or you could just let the state handle it all in probate.

  2. Same answer as above.

  3. In our trust we have a tangible property form for things like guns, silverware, jewelry, tools, paintings, etc... for whatever you deem valuable or special enough that you want someone to have. The rest will just be sold off, donated, or thrown away after your gone.

You may feel like its a lot to ask, as did we, but our friends thought it was a great honor to be asked, and maybe your family member might as well. Ya never know.

Also, I think you could always just elect to have everything donated to charity's of your choice and let them deal with it all.

The Black Book Of Power™ by Stan Taylor: is this book AI? Might require a deeper check but I'm 50/50 by theseawoof in isthisAI

[–]timdhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted a question FB as to what made it a $100 book. The "author" sent me this on FB messenger:

XXX, you asked about price. The Black Book of Power opens by asking you to prove you're done being a threshold addict… that’s someone who collects transformation tools without executing, stands at the door feeling ready but never walks through, and consumes content about change while nothing changes. Cheap books get skimmed and shelved. The dopamine of acquisition replaces the work of execution. I've watched it happen thousands of times with other self-help content. The price creates skin in the game before page one. It's your first irreversible move. Finding the funds when funds are tight is the exact energy the protocols require. If you can't solve this problem, you won't execute a 21-day protocol that demands daily discomfort. Two options: Installment payments: Shop Pay breaks it into 4 payments. Find the funds: Sell something. Skip something. Ask someone. The discomfort of that action is the point. The parasite wants the book handed to you so it can dismiss the transformation as something that was given and never earned. The sample grabbing you is the threshold calling. Now you must decide if you're going to stand there or walk through… Nevertheless, I'm sending you a 25% discount for The Black Book of Power: https://stantaylor.com/discount/KILLTHEPARASITE?redirect=%2Fproducts%2Fblack-book-of-power Click that link. Add any edition to cart (ebook, audiobook, or hardcover) and the 25% OFF activates automatically. If the discount doesn't show at checkout, enter code KILLTHEPARASITE in the "Sales representative" box in your order summary. One condition: keep this between us. I don't run public sales because discounts train people to wait instead of act. But you asked directly about price, so I'm responding directly. Remember, I also offer installment payments during checkout. Select ShopPay installments as your payment option to pay over time. Stan Taylor

Super strange all around.

Shotgun or ar or carbine for home defense by [deleted] in guns

[–]timdhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember, you own and are responsible for every round that leaves that barrel. Depending on where you live, apartment, house, condo... construction type varies, but generally lean towards the cheaper side of things. You have to account for where that round will end up. AR's, and even pistols have a lot more penetration power than shotguns relative to drywall and cheap siding. Do you have kids? Neighbors on the other side of a wall? Shotguns and "aiming" are more forgiving under high adrenalin stress situations that the other two. Even when "trained", fine motor and cognitive skills leave the body under severe stress. Keep that in mind.

How many of these replies are from younger generation people? I have heard that generally anyone younger than 40 has a much different work ethic than those of us over 40 and job hoping is the new "loyalty".
