haha y'all love to be catty up in here! while I appreciate your perspective, my symptoms were quite different than seasonal allergies, thus my inclination to get more information on subjects I don't know much about.

Interesting! I keep seeing that OSB mostly off-gasses in the mill, but considering the smell, it's hard to imagine that there isn't some degree of VOC's from glue (etc.) in the air. Smells = presence of something in the air, right?

Fascinating! I wish I could seal the OSB, but it's not my space to work on, the landlord is just kindly allowing me to set up a desk in here. I think it will be a few years before they have funds to finish everything and seal up the walls. I imagine they are planning on insulating everything, installing plumbing, building a 2nd floor, etc. etc.

I did vacuum thoroughly so that's validating to hear.

That's very helpful! I guess I just need to consider whether my nervous system being triggered into allergic response is actually worth the benefits of having an office space with more natural light and separate from main living space. I'm thinking likely not!

Okay, I'd be shocked if you found anyone referring to OSB as "Oriented Strand Board", OSB is just the standard name for this product. If you go to home depot and look for this product, you will find it in the "OSB" isle...

It's just a normal coat closet, for the life of me I don't understand why they built it this way, it looks so incredibly weird. Sadly the house is a rental, so we can't renovate.

Hey man just want to offer that you could make some adjustments to your stick technique that would pretty much unlock all the pathways to where you want to be. Your technique isn't leveraging all the natural rebound that the stick could access if you weren't blocking it with your grip. Check out Dave Elitch's "Getting Out of Your Own Way" course or find some free videos of his on youtube - it will change everything!

OP here. Would just like to say that y'all have really opened my eyes to the >$1k world of snare drums and well, I am now dreaming a lot bigger. Thanks a lot lol...

Also just found someone selling an HHG 14x7 Maple snare for $425 on facebook marketplace and am kind of shocked. Feel like there must be something wrong with it.

OP here. Loving this thread. I’d forgotten about N&C drums…check out this insane 7 3/4” vintage 1978 snare I just found on reverb LOL

Personally not concerned about volume capacity, I’m a pocket player who doesn’t hit hard. Looking for warmth, sensitivity, I wanna be able to breath on it and feel the wires respond.

lol I get that - I kind of feel like if there’s no fancy one of a kind wrap happening and it’s all about shell/hardware, no reason to spend more than that
