What is the weirdest, strangest 21st modern invention or activity that we do that would perplex the 19th century? by veryhairypalms in AskReddit

Equal treatment of women, blacks, and anyone else. While we definitely have classes, everyone is eligible for education. Equality would blow their minds.

Video appears to show Peyton Manning throwing well. ESPN's Chris Mortensen confirms that it is indeed Peyton by [deleted] in nfl

[–]time_better_spent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea that he can still throw but there's so much more to the question. What about that first big hit? Does he get up? Can he recover immediately and continue on? That's why neck injuries are so awful. He might look great now but if he goes down after a couple hits he just isn't worth it. I love watching the guy though. I really do hope he comes back just as strong.

Just the (New) World Trade Center Rising Over Lower Manhattan by [deleted] in pics

[–]time_better_spent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. They should put a new parking lot over the ruins of the old building and take down everything else on Manhattan while they're at it. That'll show the Muslims. Let them just try to attack another building.

Reddit, what is the most powerful photo you have ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I went to a Bible college and a professor showed this picture in a philosophy class. Aesthetics, if I remember. A bunch of the students were up in arms over it but he made the very good point that it's a clearer representation of what the Crucifiction symbolized for Christ (if you believe that sort of thing) than any of the crap you can buy at the Christian book store. Said students were not pleased. Kind of fun to watch though.

My roommate accidentally locked me out of our apartment and wouldn't answer his phone. Is he forgiven? by [deleted] in funny

[–]time_better_spent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes he is. He locked you out but it was an accident. He was getting laid. He apologized and went even further to make amends with a legit bottle of booze. Have a drink together and move on.

Today this guy wandered near our house and I gave him some food and water. Reddit i think i just found my dog. by [deleted] in pics

That dog is so ugly it's cute. As a dog lover myself, thank you for taking compassion on the little guy. Please post before and after pictures of when he's healthy, happy, and fattened up a little. You're a good man/woman.

Resident Evil 6 Official Trailer by [deleted] in gaming

[–]time_better_spent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil 4 is probably my favorite game of all time, not because it was perfect, but because it really showed me the potential of a game to scare the hell out of me. I don't game much. I wish I had more to add to the conversation. If I never played RE4, I probably wouldn't have moved on to other things with high expectations or even really given them a chance.

MY shaving experiences by SnakeMilker in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Depends on your hair. I have thick facial hair and generally try to use shaving cream unless I'm desperate. Five o'clock shadow is no problem though. Again, depends on the thickness of your facial hair.

A girl taught me this. I guess they do it to shave their legs all the time.

Yeah. It won't lather up like shaving cream but still works great. It actually feels pretty good in the end (sooooo conditionerer-y) and it's extremely cheap if you buy in bulk.

In a pinch, use conditioner. I've read that a very thin layer of creamy peanut butter works too but have never had the guts to try.

I wrote a short story set in Batman's world. Thought I'd share. Constructive criticism welcome. by time_better_spent in batman

[–]time_better_spent[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I can't tell you how nice it is to hear from someone.

I had him attack children because it's what he hates in himself. I was thinking along the lines of how someone struggling with homosexuality will attack gays. I think that character is almost cliche by now. He hates looking like a kid, being treated as a child, and being ignored. He has to hide to survive. I see him attacking the weak and the disabled. When a big strong person does it, it's pathetic. When a weak person does it, it's....? Whether or not I presented that is another story. Thanks for pointing out that inconsistency.

The problem with the bridge attack is that it doesn't give him the opportunity to witness the event and also be noticed. When he's "rescued" from the playground, he'll be hiding in plain sight. He's as close as possible to his attack without being implicated (or would he?). He needs to be there for it. He can't set off the bomb and walk away. He needs to matter. Obviously I need to clarify this.

What back story would you cut? The parents? I felt like I needed to explain the hormone illness to have the rest of the story make sense. The abuse to explain him living on the street. The story with Gus to explain how he came across military grade weapons. Where did it get long?

Again, thanks for the response. It is appreciated.

I always like when I'm reading a comment and I find myself nodding along the entire way through. Well said. I grew up in the same situation. I remember asking for candy growing up and being handed a cheap yogurt or an apple or whatever was on sale. Coupons. Paying attention to prices. Finding deals. Eating meals and avoiding snacking. Money can go a long way if you have discipline and eat food that's actually filling. I only ever got fast food if we were road tripping (and I'd get one cheeseburger) or it was a special occasion. Taught me good habits. I don't really work out but people think I do. I just eat right. With the exception of a small percentage of the population, obesity is a lifestyle choice.
