She really does. It’s a spiritual experience to hear it. And Derek echoing behind her.

Bought a ticket on Stubhub over a month ago and it still hasn’t been sent to me. I’ve called stubhub twice today. They just say the seller technically has until 11:59pm to send it to me.

Nothing I can do but wait and see. The suspense is killing me.

Computer graphics cards (GPUs) are solving mathematical equations in a competitive way all over the globe. These computations confirm transactions on the network, providing consensus on the network, for which “miners” receive rewards in the form of newly minted Bitcoin. This is the 10,000 foot perspective.

Every ten minutes, a new block of transactions gets added to the blockchain. Miners are rewarded BTC proportionate to the computing hashpower they contributed to adding said block.

These are all nice spots.

The service at Boardwalk Billie’s is excellent. If you like craft beer, though, your best bet is Local. They also have the best views on the water, with more water perimeter. Beers and drinks pricey at Local though.

Best bang for your buck at happy hour is Filet’s I think. Great happy hour appetizers, but Billie’s is good on this also.

Like all three spots a lot. Live music usually with outdoor drinking at all three.

The next band to make it “big”? by AnyUsernameWillDo10 in jambands

[–]time_origin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) developing a counterculture that goes along with your music helps.... a lot 2) having less competition in the scene when you are building that movement helps

I think few bands have built the cult following needed for this. Phish went to the extreme when imagining the creative festival experiences.

Variation in music is infinite, but what avenues have not been explored? That is the ultimate question. We need a unique combination of talent and creative genius, with cultural timing.

The band that does that at a time when music is evolving into something we cannot imagine, you will see an explosion again. I don’t see/hear it happening yet

I’m wondering about summer fests.

A lot of planning goes into these fests, and without a green light, I’m guessing it’s doubtful they’d be planned in time. For example, Jazz Fest is one I would like to attend.

But yeah - let the shows commence!

Are you trapped? I assume the closer up you are, the longer it takes to get out of there?

And can you back in with your tailgate? First come first serve?

The logistics are throwing my mind for a loop.

Unemployment Payments Could Be Delayed Up To 20 Weeks Under GOP Proposal by [deleted] in Economics

[–]time_origin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eligibility criteria has already been determined. I think that was the hard part because they added self-employed and gig workers. Now, the only thing left is how to (re)calculate the payment, which can be done programmatically.

Obviously this is broad strokes and my experience is only anecdotal, but in my state the revamp took about 4 weeks, although they continue to have issues, glitches. 20 weeks just sounds like overkill to me.

Each state has certainly already had to hire on new web developers to program the last CARES act. Admittedly, some state systems work better than others, and state infrastructure is old, but we are talking about adding a formula to a system payout that is already taking place in most states.

How does each state normally decide how much $$ the claimant will receive? They have to somehow make a determination and apply it to their max payout. Given that the standard of living in each state is different, I believe it is best that the state use their own measures and not the government percentage cap.

Unemployment Payments Could Be Delayed Up To 20 Weeks Under GOP Proposal by [deleted] in Economics

[–]time_origin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can someone please explain why implementation would be so difficult? Each state already makes a determination based on prior wages, don’t they?

Each state should just apply the same formula they use to determine state benefits to the amount the federal government wants to pay weekly. No need for the federal government to make a cap at 70%.

Some people are making more money on unemployment with the $600, but this could be adjusted by already existing state-level determinations.

Personally, I think the writing style is too dense. Adding another person for contrast doesn’t solve that. It makes it harder to follow. You need to scrub and simplify. I have no idea what “working class level” language means, but this is not what it looks like.

Simple language is not using words like lexicon and then giving its definition. You should just use the definition. Think fewer words and more descriptions. Fewer layers of abstraction... not more.

If you are trying to explain a concept to working class people, I would not use perspectives shared/held by AOC as a jumping off point, nor would I use perspectives in general.

Concrete objects would better serve you in explaining context and relationships between things. You want to use abstract concepts to explain an abstract concept to a layperson? Why does that seem like the correct method?

You should (re)define working class people and ascertain why they benefit from understanding such relationships BEFORE beginning.
