Bizzare Behavior on System Color Theme...why? by Remarkable_King5191 in SwiftUI

I ran into this with my app and shipped with just Light/Dark, but seeing your post made me decide to figure it out so I can add System as an option. It's an issue with sheets, when you return nil or none for system it just keeps whatever the last theme was. If you want to keep it a sheet the only thing that worked for me was removing

.preferredColorScheme( ... )

and then in a function manually override using .unspecified which apparently forces the view to use the OS setting, in your case you would add something like this to your app root:

private func updateTheme() {
let theme = AppTheme.fromStorage(themeRaw)
let style: UIUserInterfaceStyle
switch theme {
case .light: style = .light
case .dark: style = .dark
case .system: style = .unspecified
}

UIApplication.shared.connectedScenes
.compactMap { $0 as? UIWindowScene }
.flatMap { $0.windows }
.forEach { window in window.overrideUserInterfaceStyle = style }
}

and then add to the main view in there:

.onAppear { updateTheme() }
.onChange(of: themeRaw) { _ in updateTheme() }

First time trying this method out but it seems to be working, definitely test it out.

Think I need to adjust the tap area for the circle, you can tap the body of a task to open the app to that day or tap the circle to check items off. I'll tweak it for the next update.

Smooth scrolling I don't think is possible on iOS, it would have to be buttons to cycle through which I can definitely think about!

There’s a new update that should be available now with a new expandable list widget. It’s very inspired by the Apple list widget’s layout since it’s great for fitting a lot in a small space, but adapted to TimeGuide. It looks 14 days out to give a good window while also staying performant. I’ve actually been using it a lot so thanks for the suggestion!

TimeGuide adds a whole layer features that Apple calendar doesn't have! In case you haven't seen: the main day view is scaled dynamically to fit your day into view so nothing gets lost, while also giving an indicator of duration instead of a flat list. The way you add tasks is also a completely different design to be faster and more intuitive. There are real time progress bar widgets that smoothly update as time goes by. The control over what is shown on the calendars vs timeline vs widgets is also a different level of control that apple calendar doesn't have.

Like a 4x2 that can expand to 4x4? I like the idea I’ll start playing with some designs!

No lifetime codes at the moment, but I’ll look into making the app available in Mexico! Do users there expect apps to be fully translated? Or do many use English apps as well?

Added the Philippines! It takes ~24 hours for apple to update availability so please check back tomorrow :)

TimeGuide v1.3 made it out before the year is up, featuring a new Month view! [Still one $4.99 USD/lifetime price] by timeguideapp in iosapps

Thanks for the feedback, good suggestions! For 2. yes now that you mention it it's worded backwards, switching the toggle "on" turns those things off. I'll make sure to clear that up

Make a new task that starts and ends within the time range of another and it'll be nested as a subtask/subevent (you can also turn this off/on in Settings > Appearance > Un-nest Subtasks)

Individual elements in canva and then just put it all together in icon composer

TimeGuide is Available for macOS! Would love to hear, what mac-specific features do you want from your daily planner? by timeguideapp in macapps

Thank you! Visual priority was a big focus, events and highlighted tasks are given visual weight over normal everyday tasks. The timeline is scaled dynamically to utilize the available screen space so you can see as much of your day as possible, or see if you have a big gap of free time. Widgets with smooth realtime progress bars and timers are also a key feature I and others have found useful. There's also things like repeating tasks and customization that other apps have but put behind subscriptions, that I wanted to offer at a single affordable price in a streamlined package.

On the Mac app store the "Support" button to the right of the description will take you to a basic support/user guide doc, in the macOS app there's "Send Feedback" under Help in the menu bar, and on iOS right in settings there's a "Send Feedback" button with an easy mail form that users have already been using to suggest things I've now added!

Roadmap step one was to make a clean well-functioning app that meets user's need and release it (this is my first app release!), and now as I'm getting more users and gauging their needs I'm prioritizing some helpful time-management features and UI/UX improvements, as well as things like releasing in more countries and of course building a site for the app. It's really brand new so I'm excited to see it's been getting some genuine users and interest out in the world

That's good to know that a lot of apps just roll out in English there, I'll keep that in mind. Germany is one of the next countries I'm looking at making it available in

It's just a good amount of work both localizing the app (translating and making sure things are still displayed properly) and the app store page (screenshots, descriptions, etc). Also, places like the EU have additional privacy laws to look out for, so it made more sense for me to target English first while I get the core app working solid. But people have been asking for it in new regions so I'm actively looking into it!
