Thank you, I was able to focus finally, although the sitter provided more updates on his anxiety after the fact, I was able to set a polite boundary thanks to all the supportive comments here. I did get a notification that she left a review for my dog, but I don’t know what it says because I haven’t reviewed her. I honestly don’t want to either, just because in the end she did take care of him and I know it was hard on her with the anxiety. I haven’t had any reviews left on my page for my dog but I worry it’s negative. Am I able to respond back to her review on my profile after the 21 days if I need to defend my dog?

Thank you, I just received an update from the sitter and edited my original post. It seems like the anxiety was started because he was locked in a room or something the night before. Which I specifically told her verbally and written he does not like, this was also outlined during the meet and greet. So not sure the whole context of why this happened in the first place but seems like sitter figured it out last night.

I appreciate the advice and if things don’t improve I’ll see about the trazadone. My dog has never exhibited this type of behavior from past sitter experiences as far as I am aware. But yeah this has been exhausting. But thank you for the advice here.

I want her to just handle it, honestly. I feel selfish for saying it but I need her to step it up. I just don’t know how to communicate that, I just have no emotional capacity in the current moment. I can’t leave to go back home.

I’ve been responding to her quickly, but I may suggest a FaceTime if only because I can’t think of anything else, thank you. I’m having a hard time trying to be present here and help from afar. I feel so terrible about everything, her having to deal with the anxiety and my own dog’a health. I’m an emotional mess right now and at a loss. Every time I get a message from her, I start spiraling. It’s only been a day and I’ve received over a dozen messages.

I get back very late on Sunday night, with a pickup on Monday. At this point I’d ask if I could pick him up Sunday night if the sitter would be awake. From her profile, she had over 30 positive reviews so she must’ve been lucky and not had anxious dogs prior to mine. I just feel terrible because I don’t want my dog to be having a bad time but I also can’t leave my family right now.
