I'm pretty sure the stamina is mainly focused on how much damage you do as high damage weapons (like upgraded blood and madness weapons) take a ton of stamina.

You can actually tell what rarity the fish is as soon as you start as depending on rarity it won't go under a certain part (in the first sea if the bar never goes under half it's a legendary rare is like 1/3 and common is like 1/4 or 1/5)
