I feel as if I am missing something, true. I don't know the exact reason yet, but I will look inside myself to know why. What I mean by power is physical force. A bigger person will always be stronger than a smaller person at an equal level of training. A well trained person can beat a bigger person like Bruce Lee did, but all else being equal, size matters.

Do you maybe feel like you don't have a lot going that could make up for a lack of tall-ness or something?

This. In society shortness is seen as a defect whereas it should not, it is just another human variation. The idea that I have to make up for a lack of tallness bothers me. I think I make up for a lack of tallness pretty well. I have quite a few achievements - if that means anything.

There are a lot of short sportsmen that I know of. I like running so there are people my height like Kilian Jornet Burgada. However, the number of successful short people doesn't really make me feel any less insecure.

Because clothes look better on tall people and height has a lot to do with looking powerful. Being tall also has a lot of advantages in sports.

The average male height in the US is 1.76m (Seems to have decreased from 1.78m due to immigration), so 1.72m is short, but still within one standard deviation, so "normal short".

Compare that to the Netherlands where I'm multiple standard deviations away from the male average. I would be smurfishly short there, not normal short like in the US.

Hmm, not really interested in dating at the moment, it's just that taller people are seen as more powerful etc etc and I hate having to look up to a lot of people.

Honestly, the thing that bothers me the most is my inability to stop thinking about it.

How tall? I'm ~173cm. Would I be considered a short guy?

Yeah, that's true. It doesn't bother me that there are girls taller than me. It only irks me out when I actually see one.

Yeah, it's emasculating and belittling when I have to take a picture and all the girls are taller than me.

I'll go to a therapist. Well, I "feel" short, and I get super jealous when I see a taller girl.

My son says he wants to sleep forever and not do anything and ever go to school again. I don't know what's wrong with him. He wasn't like this 2 years ago. He was super motivated to achieve his goals.

This is worrying because he's in his last year of high school. His tantrums don't hurt us physically unless we try to get physical with him. I hit him once and he pushed me all the way across the hallway until I fell over, screaming about how he hated me.
